Diamondbacks farm director Shaun Larkin announced Friday that shortstop prospect Tommy Troy will be sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a left hamstring strain.
The 22-year-old was the 12th overall selection from the 2023 draft class. Before suffering the injury, Troy was hitting just .184/.231/.286 with a homer, three RBI, five stolen bases and a 10/3 K/BB ratio over 52 plate appearances in 12 games at High-A Hillsboro.
  • NYM Shortstop #12

Francisco Lindor stole a base and reached twice with a run scored in a win over the Dodgers on Saturday.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Edwin Díaz struck out three over 1 1/3 scoreless innings to get a save against the Dodgers on Saturday.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #26
Tony Gonsolin gave up four runs on seven hits over five innings to get a loss against the Mets on Saturday.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #23
David Peterson hurled 7 2/3 innings of two-run baseball to get a win Saturday over the Dodgers.
Peterson allowed a pair of runs in the second inning, but from that point on the 29-year-old was outstanding against the quality Los Angeles lineup. He struck out seven against just two walks, and he held the Dodgers a 1-for-5 average when there were runners in scoring position. Peterson how has a strong ERA of 2.79 on the season, and he has yet to allow more than three runs in an outing. He’ll try and keep that streak going against the lowly Rockies next weekend.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #28
Making his 2025 debut, Trevor Rogers shut out the Red Sox for 6 1/3 innings as the Orioles prevailed 2-1 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Rogers averaged 93.3 mph with his fastball, which was a nice surprise. He was at 92.3 mph in his four Triple-A starts. Last year, he was at 92.0 mph as a rather effective starter for the Marlins and 91.0 mph as a bust after being traded to the Orioles. If it’s more than just a one-start adrenaline boost, he might be an upgrade for the desperate Orioles. He’ll head back to the minors now, but since he was a 27th man today and not an official callup, he can return to the majors at any time.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #56
Seranthony Domínguez gave up one run while getting five outs in the eighth and ninth to earn a save against the Red Sox in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Domínguez pitched out of Andrew Kittredge’s jam in the eighth by retiring Jarren Duran and Rafael Devers. He went on to give up a homer in the ninth, but he finished out a 2-1 game from there. It’s his first save of the season. Félix Bautista was unavailable to close after pitching in the first game.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #54
Lucas Giolito scattered six hits over seven scoreless frames against the Orioles in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader.
Giolito came up big with the Red Sox wanting a long outing after Hunter Dobbins’ four-inning effort in the first game. He struck out six and walked two while throwing 99 pitches. It’s Giolito’s third quality start in five outings for Boston, though since he gave up six runs apiece in the other two, his ERA stands at 5.27. He’ll likely make his next start Friday or Saturday in Atlanta.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #29
Abraham Toro hit solo homers in both games of Boston’s doubleheader against the Orioles on Saturday.
The second homer came with the Red Sox down 2-0 in the ninth. It looked like Jorge Mateo had a bead on in in center field, but he ended up flipping over the short wall as the ball bounced off his glove. Fortunately, he was able to remain in afterwards. Toro is 9-for-34 for the Red Sox, but now that he has three homers, he might be in line for some additional time at first base.
  • BOS Shortstop #10
Trevor Story was finally replaced for a pinch-hitter in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader after going 0-for-6 between the two contests.
Any chance of Story getting benched would seem to be gone now with Alex Bregman getting hurt, but there’s really no excuse for the Red Sox still batting him higher than eighth or ninth. He has just 14 hits, one homer and six walks to go along with 39 strikeouts over 119 plate appearances in his last 28 games. His season OPS dipped to .589 tonight.
  • BOS Shortstop #39
Marcelo Mayer finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts while making his MLB debut in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Orioles.
Definitely was not a debut to remember for Mayer. After getting a standing ovation in Fenway, he got ahead 3-0 in his first at-bat, only to strike out on the next three pitches. His subsequent two at-bats were three- and four-pitch strikeouts, making him responsible for 43% of Boston’s seven strikeouts on the night. In the ninth, he grounded out with the tying man on base. Of course, we’d never make sweeping judgments about a player based on one game, but this was a particularly unimpressive performance.
