  • MIL Left Fielder #9
Brewers placed 1B/OF Jake Bauers on the bereavement list.
The versatile 28-year-old will be away from the club for a couple of days. Andruw Monasterio was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move to provide depth off of the Brewers’ bench for their weekend series against the Cardinals.
  • LAA Third Baseman #22
Miguel Sanó went 0-for-3 on Friday, leaving him 1-for-22 since coming off the injured list last week.
That one hit was a homer, but he still has only two of those in 92 plate appearances for the season. At just .205/.295/.313 overall, he might be in danger of losing his spot once Anthony Rendon returns.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #37
The Pirates announced Friday that Jared Jones is dealing with a Grade 2 lat strain and will be shut down from throwing for the next two weeks.
The Pirates are tying to find ways to manage the 22-year-old right-hander’s workload this season, so this doesn’t change his overall outlook for the season all that much. He’ll be re-evaluated after the two weeks to determine the schedule for ramping him back up. Fantasy managers may want to plan on being without Jones for the entire month of July.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #67
Keaton Winn (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live bullpen session on Saturday.
The 26-year-old hurler continues to work his way back from inflammation in his right elbow. There’s no clear timetable for his return just yet, but if all goes well with Saturday’s session he could potentially be cleared to start a minor league rehab assignment. With Winn, Robbie Ray and Alex Cobb all making progress in their respective recoveries, the Giants’ rotation is poised to get reinforcements very soon.
  • SEA Shortstop #7
Jorge Polanco is not in the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday night’s tilt against the Blue Jays.
The 31-year-old second baseman has really struggled since returning from the injured list, hitting just .192/.222/.231 with no homers, one RBI and a 13/0 K/BB ratio over 27 plate appearances. Yikes. Dylan Moore will start in his place at second base on Friday night and will bat eighth against Kevin Gausman and the Blue Jays.
  • DET Left Fielder #21
Mark Canha is not in the Tigers’ starting lineup for Friday night’s showdown against the Reds in Cincinnati.
It’s the second time in the last three games that Canha has been excluded from the lineup, so perhaps he’s battling something minor. Gio Urshela will cover first base in his absence on Friday night and will bat seventh against Carson Spiers and the Reds.
  • DET Center Fielder #60
Tigers optioned OF Akil Baddoo to Triple-A Toledo.
With Parker Meadows rejoining the team on Friday, someone needed to go to make room in the outfield and Baddoo drew the short straw this time around. The 25-year-old outfielder hit just .132/.242/.340 with two homers, four RBI and one stolen base during his stay with the big-league club.
  • DET Center Fielder #22
Tigers recalled OF Parker Meadows from Triple-A Toledo.
As expected, the dynamic 24-year-old outfielder will rejoin the big-league club after spending nearly two months refining his approach at the plate at Triple-A Toledo. He’ll start in center field and bat eighth against Carson Spiers and the Reds on Friday evening in Cincinnati. Prior to his demotion, Meadows was slashing a cringe-inducing .096/.224/.219 with two homers, three RBI, three stolen bases and a 32/11 K/BB ratio over 85 plate appearances.
  • SF Right Fielder #5
Mike Yastrzemski (elbow) was a late addition to the Giants’ starting lineup on Friday night.
The initial lineup that the Giants released did not contain Yastrzemski — who was hit in the elbow by a pitch on Thursday — but after testing hit it out in the cages the 33-year-old outfielder said he was good to go. He’ll start in right field in place of Luis Matos and will bat seventh for the Giants against Tanner Bibee and the Guardians on Friday night.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #71
Red Sox recalled LHP Cam Booser from Triple-A Worcester.
Booser has pitched well in his time with the Red Sox this season, registering a 3.21 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and a 33/6 K/BB ratio across 28 innings in 26 appearances. He’ll get another opportunity to work out of the Red Sox’ bullpen with Chris Martin (elbow) landing on the injured list.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #55
Red Sox placed RHP Chris Martin on the 15-day injured list with right elbow soreness.
The 38-year-old hurler has been effective when he has been able to take the mound this season, posting a 3.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 29/2 K/BB ratio over 26 1/3 innings in his 26 appearances. Elbow issues are never encouraging though and it’s not yet clear how long Martin is expected to be shelved for. Cam Booser was recalled from Triple-A Worcester to take his place in the Red Sox’ bullpen.
