Rays optioned RHP Kevin Kelly to Triple-A Durham.
Kelly appeared in four games this season for the Rays and allowed at least one earned run in three of those appearances. The 26-year-old will continue to get work down at the minors but should get some major league innings down the road as he was a big part of the team’s bullpen in 2023 when he posted a 3.09 ERA across 67 innings.

Austin Hays went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs on Thursday, leading the Reds to a 6-0 victory over the visiting Marlins.
Hays got the Reds on the board first in this one with a two-out RBI single off of Cal Quantrill in the opening inning that plated Elly De La Cruz from second base. He then capped off the scoring with a two-run single that chased Quantrill in the sixth inning. Hays also drew a walk, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. The 30-year-old outfielder has done a nice job in his limited action this season, hitting .277/.318/.524 with eight homers and 35 RBI in 178 plate appearances.
Kim should settle in as Rays starting shortstop
Ha-Seong Kim returned to the Tampa Bay Rays this week after missing the first half of the season with a shoulder injury, and Eric Samulski examines Kim's fantasy value down the stretch.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base on Thursday as the Reds dispatched of the visiting Marlins.
The 23-year-old All-Star shortstop singled off of Cal Quantrill with two outs in the opening inning, swiped second base and raced around to score the game’s first run on an RBI single off the bat of Spencer Steer. He then tacked on an RBI single of his own in the sixth that made it a 4-0 ballgame and scored on a two-run single by Hays. He has had a terrific first half at the dish, slashing .280/.351/.488 with 18 homers, 63 RBI, 71 runs scored and 23 stolen bases (in 29 attempts).
  • CIN 3rd Baseman #7
Spencer Steer blasted his 11th home run of the season on Thursday, helping to power the Reds past the Marlins.
Steer jumped on a 1-0 fastball from Cal Quantrill and clubbed it for a 395-foot (103.1 mph EV) solo shot that extended the Reds’ lead to 2-0. That would be his only hit in four at-bats on the day, which included a pair of strikeouts. For the season, the versatile 27-year-old is now hitting .252/.307/.412 with 11 long balls, 38 RBI and six stolen bases.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #40
Nick Lodolo was outstanding in Thursday afternoon’s victory over the Marlins, scattering three hits over six innings of shutout baseball.
The 27-year-old southpaw struck out four batters on the day and didn’t allow a base on balls. The only time that the Marlins put a runner in scoring position against him came as Xavier Edwards reached on a two-out bunt single in the third inning and swiped second base before being stranded there. Lodolo generated 10 swings and misses on 91 pitches in the ballgame, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He has been a major asset for fantasy managers in the first half of the season, going 6-6 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 97/22 K/BB ratio over 102 2/3 innings in 19 starts.
  • MIA Shortstop #9
Xavier Edwards went 1-for-4 and swiped a base as the Marlins were shut out by Nick Lodolo and a host of Reds’ relievers on Thursday.
Edwards reached on a two-out bunt single off of Lodolo in the third inning and proceeded to swipe second base before being left stranded there. That was one of just four total hits that the Marlins were able to muster in the ballgame. For the season, the speedy 25-year-old infielder is now hitting .291/.358/.337 with zero homers, 22 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 343 plate appearances.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #47
Cal Quantrill got roughed up late in Thursday afternoon’s loss to the Reds, giving up six runs (five earned) on seven hits over his five-plus innings of work.
The 30-year-old right-hander had allowed just two runs through his first five innings, but he returned for the sixth and allowed each of the first five hitters to reach (four singles and a walk) before turning the ball over to the bullpen. Quantrill got 11 swings and misses on 84 pitches on the day — six of those on his splitter — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He finishes an inconsistent first half with a disappointing 3-8 record, 5.62 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a 67/24 K/BB ratio across 81 2/3 innings through his first 18 starts.
  • NYM Left Fielder #3
Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters after the first game of Thursday’s doubleheader that Jesse Winker (back) will head back to New York for additional testing.
Winker was pulled from the first game of Thursday’s twin bill due to tightness in his back. That was just a couple of days after a lengthy stint on the injured list with a strained oblique. It sounds like the 31-year-old outfielder could be heading right back to the injured list on Friday. If counting on him for fantasy purposes, be sure to keep an eye on his status on Friday.
  • ATH Shortstop #5
Jacob Wilson (hand) remains out of the Athletics’ starting lineup for Thursday night’s soiree against the Braves.
Wilson suffered a left-hand contusion after he was hit by a pitch during Tuesday’s game. It sounds like he’s going to try to tough it out and won’t require a trip to the injured list, so expect him to return to action at some point over the weekend. Max Muncy will once again cover the shortstop position in his absence on Thursday and will bat sixth against Braves’ right-hander Spencer Strider.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #23
David Peterson has been added to the National League roster for next week’s MLB All-Star Game.
He’s taking the place of Giants’ left-hander Robbie Ray who will start in the Giants’ first-half finale on Sunday and wouldn’t be available to pitch in the All-Staar Game. Peterson is definitely worthy of the honor — registering a 3.18 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and an 87/37 K/BB ratio across 102 innings in 17 starts for the Mets in the first half. It’s the first All-Star selection for the 29-year-old southpaw.
  • LAA 1st Baseman #18
Nolan Schanuel is not in the Angels’ starting lineup for Thursday’s tilt against the Rangers.
The Halos will get Schanuel a breather with left-hander Patrick Corbin toeing the slab for the Rangers. LaMonte Wade Jr. will start in his place at first base and bat ninth for the Angels on Thursday evening in Los Angeles.
