  • CWS Catcher #33
White Sox moved Max Stassi from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Stassi being placed on the 60-day IL opens a spot on the 40-man roster, and the White Sox are using it to promote Nick Nastrini. Stassi now won’t be able to return to the Chicago lineup until the end of May at the earliest.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #73
White Sox released RHP Cody Sedlock.
Sedlock signed a minor league contract with the White Sox back in mid-April and didn’t end up making it to Chicago. The 29-year-old righty, who was hit extremely hard in six relief appearances for Triple-A Charlotte prior to getting cut loose earlier this week, hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2022 season.
  • WAS Third Baseman #38
Nationals recalled INF Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester.
Lipscomb is back for another stint with the Nationals after batting .237 (28-for-118) with one homers and 10 steals across 133 plate appearances over 38 games earlier this year. The 24-year-old rookie’s stolen base potential is intriguing for fantasy managers in extremely deep mixed leagues and NL-only formats.
  • BOS Right Fielder #17
Tyler O’Neill is not in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Yankees.
It appears to be a routine maintenance day for O’Neill with Yankees ace Gerrit Cole on the mound on Saturday afternoon. The -year-old slugger has started six of Boston’s last eight contests since last Friday. It’ll be Jarren Duran in left field, Ceddanne Rafaela in center field and David Hamilton getting the nod at shortstop in this one.
  • NYY Second Baseman #25
Gleyber Torres (groin) is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Red Sox.
Torres is getting the day off on Saturday afternoon following an early exit from Friday’s game against the Red Sox due to right groin tightness after legging out a fourth-inning infield single. The 27-year-old infielder has been playing through a lingering minor groin issue for the last few weeks. It’ll be Oswaldo Cabrera at the keystone in his absence. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #73
Adbert Alzolay (forearm) has progressed to throwing bullpen sessions.
Cubs pitching coach Tommy Hottovy told reporters Friday that Alzolay is progressing well and will ramp up to facing hitters at some point later this month. The 29-year-old righty has been out since mid-May due to a right forearm flexor strain.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #25
Yency Almonte will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.
Almonte has opted for the season-ending procedure after receiving a second opinion earlier this month that wasn’t encouraging. The 30-year-old righty was acquired from the Dodgers during the offseason and winds up making just 17 relief appearances this season for Chicago.
  • MIN Shortstop #72
Brooks Lee is at designated hitter and batting ninth for Saturday’s game against the Astros.
Lee is batting .545 (6-for-11) with four RBI in three games since being called up earlier this week from Triple-A St. Paul. The 23-year-old top prospect figures to continue batting near the bottom of Minnesota’s suddenly formidable lineup as he acclimates to everyday life in the big leagues. However, that decision feels temporary, especially if he keeps producing at the dish. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats at this point. The big question for the remainder of the season is whether Lee sticks around once oft-injured offensive force Royce Lewis (groin) is ready to return after the All-Star break.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #78
Tigers RHP prospect Jackson Jobe recorded eight strikeouts over five innings on Friday for Double-A Erie.
The consensus top pitching prospect left in the minors at this juncture, Jobe was up to 98 mph in this one and allowed just one run on three hits and one walk. The 21-year-old righty, who made his return to Double-A action on Friday after a handful of rehab outings in the lower minors, figures to be an option for Detroit at some point in the second half, especially if they have something to play for.
  • SD Shortstop
Padres SS prospect Leodalis De Vries went 3-for-4 with two homers on Friday for Low-A Lake Elsinore.
De Vries is one of the youngest players in the entire California League at just 17 years old and continues to impress. The top-ranked prospect from last year’s international signing class homered from both sides of the plate on Friday night and is now batting .218 with three homers and eight steals through 44 games. Those numbers might not seem impressive, but we have to factor in that he’s nearly a presidential term younger than most of the competition he’s facing at the moment. He’s quickly emerging as one of the top dynasty prospects in the fantasy landscape and is venturing closer to top-100 overall status in those formats already given his talent and age.
  • OAK Shortstop
Athletics SS prospect Jacob Wilson launched a two-run homer on Friday for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Wilson has homered four times in eight games since returning to action for Triple-A Las Vegas back on June 25 following an extended absence due to a hamstring injury. The 22-year-old top prospect doesn’t possess a ton of over-the-fence pop or stolen base upside, which limits him potential fantasy ceiling, but there’s some at least some raw power in his profile. He’s been outstanding this season in the upper minors, batting .439 (65-for-148) with seven homers and two steals across 36 games between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas. There’s virtually nothing standing in his way at this point and it wouldn’t be shocking if he made his debut at some point in the coming weeks.
