Rangers signed RHP Codi Heuer to a minor league contract.
Heuer was non-tendered last November by the Cubs after undergoing surgery back in June to repair a fractured right elbow. The 27-year-old righty holds a serviceable 3.56 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 81/32 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (86 appearances) in the majors since 2020. He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2021 campaign due to injury.

Robbie Ray allowed just four hits, one run, and one walk with six strikeouts across seven innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Friday in a game the Giants eventually won 4-3.
Ray was in complete control against the Mets here. He was working on a no-hitter until a one-out single by Mark Vientos in the fifth inning and the lone run he gave up came via a Pete Alonso solo homer in the seventh inning when he was nearing 100 pitches. Nevertheless, his fastball, slider, and knuckle-curve worked beautifully in unison against the Mets’ right-handed batters as they practically never threatened against him. He has a great matchup coming up next against the Pirates too.
Perkins, Lawlar winners at MLB trade deadline
Eric Samulski explains why Jack Perkins and Jordan Lawlar are two of the biggest winners from the MLB's trade deadline and discusses their respective outlooks for the rest of the season.

Randy Rodríguez walked one batter and struck out another in his lone inning of work to strand the ghost runner and pick up the save on Friday against the Mets.
The Giants’ newly minted closer wasted no time saving a high-pressure game in his new role. He was called upon to pitch the bottom of the 10th inning against the top of the Mets’ order to preserve a one-run lead and got the job done. There was ample drama though: he loaded the bases and pushed the go-ahead run into scoring position before striking out Ronny Mauricio to close this one out. Mauricio hit a game-tying home run against Rodríguez last week in San Francisco, so it was certainly a confidence builder to punch him out here with the game on the line. He should be trusted as one of the best closers in fantasy baseball from this point forward.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #16
Rafael Devers went 1-for-5 with four strikeouts on Friday against the Mets.
Things are getting worse, not better, for Devers in San Francisco. He struck out in each of his four plate appearances in this one, but finally broke his 22 PA hit-less streak with a single in the eighth inning against Ryan Helsley. While it was fair to expect an adjustment period after the trade from Boston to San Francisco, Devers has been a below league average hitter with a strikeout rate north of 30% in 38 games since then.
  • NYM 1st Baseman #20
Pete Alonso went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, and a walk on Friday against the Nationals.
Alonso was almost the entirety of the Mets offense here. His seventh inning solo shot off Robbie Ray put them on the board and his sacrifice fly the following inning drew them even before eventually falling in extra innings. After a rollicking start to his season, Alonso had a .548 OPS since June 1st entering play today and was hit-less in his last 16 at-bats. Here’s to hoping this game can help him get back on track.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #23
David Peterson allowed four hits and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Friday.
Peterson seemed to get stronger as this game went along. The Giants scratched across two runs in the second inning and then only put three more runners on base over Peterson’s final four innings. It was his fifth consecutive start working at least six innings and his 14th time doing so this season as he’s grown into a bonafide workhorse for the Mets. He’ll take a 2.83 ERA into his next start against the Guardians at home.
  • LAA Left Fielder #51
Gustavo Campero hit a two-run homer in a loss Friday for the Angels against the White Sox.
Campero took Shane Smith deep for just the second homer of the season for the 27-year-old. He remains as off the fantasy radar as any player who is active in the majors. That may seem mean. It’s just the honest truth. Congrats on the homer, however.
  • CWS Shortstop #12
Colson Montgomery hit a solo homer to help the White Sox to a 6-3 win over the Angels on Friday.
Montgomery has certainly shown off the power since joining the White Sox, and his homer off Tyler Anderson gave Chicago a 4-2 lead and Montgomery his sixth homer of the season. The 23-year-old has some things to iron out, but he a .538 slugging percentage and .848 OPS over 78 at-bats are very much indicative of the talent Montgomery possesses in his left-handed bat.
  • CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi doubled and homered in a win for the Angels on Friday.
Benintendi hit one of four homers on the night for the White Sox, and his was a solo blast off southpaw Tyler Anderson in the second inning. That’s the 14th homer of the season for the 31-year-old, while the double was the 13th. Benintendi hasn’t been close to the disaster that he was in 2024, but that’s not exactly high praise as seen in a .239/.306/.446 slash.
  • CWS Relief Pitcher #36
Steven Wilson worked the final two innings to pick up a save Friday against the Angels.
You don’t see many two-inning saves, but Wilson was tasked with getting the final six outs to end Friday’s game, and he did just that. it’s the second save of the season for the veteran 30-year-old, and first since May 23. It’s pretty unlikely he’ll see many more chances.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #31
Tyler Anderson was charged for four runs in six innings to pick up a loss Friday to the White Sox.
Anderson has had issues keeping the ball in the park, and he gave up two roundtrippers Friday after allowing three of them in Saturday’s start against the Mariners. The left-hander allowed five hits in total, and he gave up two free passes against five strikeouts. Anderson still hasn’t picked up a win since April 19, and he’ll take a 2-7 record with a 4.49 ERA into a scheduled bout with the Rays on Wednesday.
