That’s probably a wrap on Davies’ bid to land the fifth spot in Washington’s season-opening rotation with Jake Irvin and Trevor Williams presumably getting the last two spots. There’s almost zero fantasy impact here, but it’s worth noting that Davies was likely still in contention until this point.

Thorpe clearly wasn’t going 100 percent, as he was reportedly throwing 84-85 mph during the bullpen. The 24-year-old received a cortisone injection near the start of February, and is considered “behind” the other White Sox starters. The next step is three weeks of bullpens, followed by live BP. Assuming good health, Thorpe should pitch near the back of the Chicago rotation to begin the 2025 campaign.

Stallings, 35, was re-signed to a one-year contract in November with a mutual option for 2025. The expectation is that he’ll see the bulk of the starts behind the plate and Drew Romo, Hunter Goodman and Austin Nola will battle for backup duties. Even playing at Coors Field half of the time, Stallings offers minimal fantasy upside for the comping campaign.

A’s manager Mark Kotsay told reporters that Springs had a normal offseason, and enters the 2025 season healthy. The 32-year-old southpaw has been extremely effective when on the mound, but he’s gone over 120 innings just once in his career. He could be a fantasy steal if he can stay healthy, but there’s risk that obviously comes with that potential reward.

Bader was a non-factor with the bat in 2024 with a .234/.298/.373 slash, but he is still a quality defensive player. The 30-year-old will at likely be in left against southpaws for Trevor Larnach, but it’s possible the Twins value Bader’s defense enough to make this a more even split than anticipated.

He was able to take part in batting practice, and he was able to run the bases as well. Wood is one of the top young outfielders in the sport, and held his own once he reached the majors in 2024. There’s plenty of time for Wood to be 100 percent by the time the regular season roles along, but this is obviously something to keep an eye on for fantasy managers.

Not bad for the start of spring. Hendrick has not pitched in the majors since 2023, but the 36-year-old is not long removed from being one of the best bullpen arms in all of baseball. If healthy, there’s a chance Hendriks wins the closer’s role with Boston, but he will be competing with Aroldis Chapman, Garrett Whitlock and Justin Slaten.

Glasnow missed the end of the 2024 season with an elbow injury, but the hope is the 31-year-old will be healthy enough to start the season in the Los Angeles rotation. Glasnow has some of the best swing-and-miss stuff in baseball, and while the injury concerns are always going to be there, he has a chance to be a sensational fantasy option in 2025.

Abreu should be back in action in the coming days. The 25-year-old has been the subject of trade rumors, but assuming he stays in Boston, he should be an everyday option for the Red Sox in 2025.

That’s the second bullpen session for Ohtani after not pitching last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery. The 2024 National League MVP is hopeful to return to the Dodgers’ rotation in the early part of May.

The Giants think this is a minor problem and that Fitzgerald could return to action later this week. He also missed a few days with lower back tightness in September.
