Dodgers optioned LHP Matt Gage and INF Andre Lipcius to Triple-A Albuquerque; Re-assigned RHPs Kevin Gowdy and Elieser Hernández, C Dalton Rushing, INFs Trey Sweeney and Austin Gauthier, and OFs Drew Avans, Jose Ramos and Ryan Ward to minor league camp.
The Dodgers are narrowing down their roster sooner than most around the league as they’re opening the season against the Padres in South Korea. There were no huge surprises among this batch of cuts, though Gage could have potentially pushed for a spot in the club’s Opening Day bullpen — especially with Brusdar Graterol and Blake Treinen slowed by minor injuries.

Phillies recalled RHP Michael Mercado from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
The former starter has a 5.31 ERA in 20 1/3 innings out of the bullpen at Triple-A. He’s not on the fantasy radar and will just be organizational depth in Philadelphia.
Fantasy expectations for Red Sox's Anthony
Primed to hit in the middle of Boston's lineup, top prospect Roman Anthony appears set to deliver raw power and a selective approach for the Red Sox and fantasy managers moving forward.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #0
Marcus Stroman (knee) will start for Double-A Somerset on Wednesday.
The veteran has been on the IL with knee inflammation since April 12th, so this rehab stint will likely be a lengthy one. Depending on the timeline for fellow starter Luis Gil’s return from his lat injury, there may not be a spot in the rotation for Stroman by the time he’s healthy.
  • BAL Right Fielder #9
Tyler O’Neill (shoulder) went 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.
He also played the majority of the game in right field, which is a good sign for the health of his shoulder. This was only O’Neill’s third game on his rehab assignment, so he may need another few games before we see him back in Baltimore’s outfield. His return could push Ramon Laureano to the bench or would move Ryan O’Hearn back to first base, which could mean the end of Coby Mayo’s time as a starter.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #21
Anthony DeSclafani allowed one run on four hits in six innings for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
He also struck out four and walked three on the day. The veteran right-hander missed all of last season after undergoing flexor tendon surgery, but he has a 4.20 ERA over 942 2/3 innings in his MLB career. Another poor start for Ryan Yarbrough could open up a short-term starting opportunity for DeSclafani until Luis Gil returns from the injured list.
  • STL 2nd Baseman #16
Nolan Gorman is making his third straight start on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Gorman has started four of the last five games for the Cardinals, playing third base, second base, or designated hitter. In his last 10 games, Gorman is hitting .435 with two home runs, five RBI, and a 7/2 K/BB ratio. With Brendan Donovan dealing with toe discomfort, there could be some extra playing time for Gorman in the immediate future.
  • TOR Outfield
News Tribune Sports’ Trevor Hahn reports that the Blue Jays intend to call up OF prospect Will Robertson.
The 27-year-old Robertson has hit .288/.408/.583 in 52 games at Triple-A with 12 home runs and 35 RBI. He has a 93.6 mph average exit velocity and nearly 54 percent hard-hit rate. He also has a 17.0 percent walk rate and a strikeout rate just under 24 percent, which is his lowest since 2019. Nathan Lukes had neck discomfort on Tuesday, so perhaps Robertson is being called up to take his place.
  • SD Shortstop #2
Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run scored against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
All of his hits were singles, but Bogaerts had his first game with three exit velocities of at least 105 mph since 2014. Considering we know he’s been dealing with a lingering shoulder issue, the exit velocities are encouraging.
  • ARI Center Fielder #5
Alek Thomas went 3-for-3 with a home run, four runs scored, a walk, and a steal in the Diamondbacks’ 10-3 win over the Mariners on Tuesday.
Thomas drew a walk in the third and scored Arizona’s first run on a triple by Corbin Carroll. He then singled and scored in the fifth and sixth innings while collecting a steal before slugging a solo homer to lead off the eighth. The 25-year-old outfielder is hitting .273/.315/.395 with three homers, 21 runs scored, 19 RBI, and four steals across 185 plate appearances.
  • ARI Catcher #14
Gabriel Moreno went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer against the Mariners on Tuesday.
Moreno’s only hit of the game brought three runs in as he took Trent Thornton deep in the sixth inning. It was the fifth home run of the season for Moreno, tying his total from last season in half the plate appearances. The 25-year-old backstop has hit the ball hard with more consistency this year, significantly raising his hard-hit rate. Moreno is slashing .277/.333/.428 with the five homers, 28 runs scored, and 20 RBI across 180 plate appearances.
  • ARI Left Fielder #12
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored against the Mariners on Tuesday.
Gurriel took Logan Evans deep for a solo homer in the fourth inning, then singled to lead off the sixth before stealing second and scoring on a home run by Gabriel Moreno. The 31-year-old outfielder is having another solid all-around season in Arizona, hitting .258/.304/.446 with ten homers, 37 RBI, and four steals across 263 plate appearances.
