Rangers placed RHP Carson Coleman on the 60-day injured list.
The procedural move opens up a spot on Texas’ 40-man roster as Coleman will be sidelined to open the season after undergoing right elbow surgery. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out at the moment.
  • TEX Shortstop #5

Corey Seager is at shortstop and batting third on Wednesday night against the Twins.
Seager snapped a six-game hitless streak with a two-hit performance, which also included a pair of walks, as part of Texas’ 16-run explosion on Tuesday night. The 31-year-old fantasy standout will aim to keep the momentum going after breaking out of an extended cold spell at the dish.
Inside the fantasy impact of Chapman's injury
Eric Samulski unpacks the significance of San Francisco Giants third-baseman Matt Chapman's hand injury that will cause him to miss more than the 10-day IL minimum.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #2
Alex Bregman (quad) is undergoing follow-up testing on Wednesday.
Bregman claimed earlier this month to be making lightning-quick progress in his recovery from a significant quad strain. There should be some additional clarity at some point later this week regarding the 31-year-old third baseman’s return timeline once he receives the results of the follow-up imaging.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #56
Spencer Schwellenbach struck out nine in his first career complete game as the Braves topped the Brewers 6-2 on Wednesday.
The Braves had relievers up in the eighth and ninth innings, but Schwellenbach was allowed to continue and retired Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and Jake Bauers on 11 pitches during the final frame. In all, he threw 105 pitches, and he went without a walk for the fifth time in 14 starts this year. Schwellenbach has gone 4-1 in his last six starts to improve to 5-4 with a 3.11 ERA for the season. His next start will likely come a week from today against the Mets.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #39
Chad Patrick surrendered five runs and two homers in five innings Wednesday against the Braves.
Patrick had eight strikeouts and 19 whiffs in the 94-pitch outing, but he gave up two homers, both of which came with a man on. The five runs and eight strikeouts are both new highs for him in his 14 career starts. He’s been absolutely terrific for the Brewers, but he has an unfortunate 3-6 record to go along with his 3.25 ERA. He doesn’t seem like a great choice in mixed leagues against the Cubs next time out.
  • ATL Right Fielder #13
Ronald Acuña Jr. went 3-for-5 and hit his sixth homer versus the Brewers on Wednesday.
Acuña is doing his absolute best to give the Braves a boost and he did help them win today, but the team is still just 5-13 in 18 games since he came off the injured list. He concluded the series against the Brewers with seven hits, including two homers, four RBI and just one strikeout in 14 plate appearances, pushing his OPS back up to 1.083.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #78
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Wednesday that he’s open to having Ben Casparius stretched out as a traditional starter moving forward.
Casparius drew the starting assignment for Wednesday’s series finale against the Padres in San Diego and it sounds like he could stick in the Dodgers’ rotation until further notice with Tony Gonsolin (elbow) facing a lengthy absence. The 26-year-old righty is a true X-factor for fantasy purposes since he’s excelled in a multi-inning role this season, registering a pristine 2.93 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 44/7 K/BB ratio across 40 innings (21 appearances, one start). He’s at least worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats as a low-risk dice roll.
  • BOS Center Fielder #19
Roman Anthony is batting fifth again on Wednesday night against the Rays.
Anthony will make his third consecutive start in right field after picking up his first career hit — an opposite-field double down the left-field line that scored a pair of runs — during Tuesday’s showdown at Fenway Park. The 21-year-old top prospect is 1-for-8 with three RBI through a pair of contests. He’s struck out only twice during that span. It’s a positive sign that the Red Sox are giving him an extended opportunity in the middle of their injury-depleted lineup right out of the gate.
  • DET Right Fielder #30
Kerry Carpenter (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Orioles.
Carpenter will likely be limited to DH-only for the time being as he continues to battle an ongoing hamstring issue. It sounds like the 27-year-old slugger will be able to manage the issue and avoid a trip to the injured list. He’s back in Detroit’s upstart lineup following a brief one-game absence.
  • CLE Center Fielder #8
Lane Thomas went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the Guardians’ 11-2 rout of the Reds on Wednesday.
The homer off lefty Joe La Sorsa went just 330 feet, but he hit to the perfect spot down the right field line. It was his first homer in 75 plate appearances this season, and it doubled his RBI total for the year. Thomas probably ought to be limited to starts against lefties for the most part, but given his hot start here since coming off the IL — he also reached three times on Monday before sitting Tuesday — regular playing time is a possibility.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #26
Logan Allen pitched six innings of two-run ball and struck out six Wednesday against the Reds.
Allen received 11 runs of support today, so solo homers from Elly De La Cruz and TJ Friedl didn’t hurt him much. Since the Guardians typically employ quicker hooks with him in close games, this is just his second quality start. He has three more outings in which he’s come up one out shy of the six-inning standard. Allen is 4-4 with a 4.28 ERA overall, and he’s likely to face the Giants next.
