Garlick tagged Reds’ starter Brandon Williamson for a two-run blast in the second inning that extended their early lead to 3-0. He then walloped a solo shot off of Carson Spiers in the fourth to make it 4-2. There’s a ton of competition for reserve outfielders in camp for the Diamondbacks, so Garlick will have to have a very strong spring to earn a role as a lefty-masher off the bench. So far, so good as he’s hitting .600 (3-for-5) with four RBI.

Turner will be making his first start since Opening Day after dealing with back spasms. The 31-year-old should be in lineups for Wednesday’s tilt against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies.

Goodrum opted out of his minor league deal with the Padres at the end of the Cactus League. The 33-year-old will need to be added to the 40-man roster to play for the Mets in 2025. There’s a pretty good chance that doesn’t happen.

The Mets also signed Niko Goodrum to a minor league deal Wednesday, so Triple-A Syracuse gets a glow up. Singleton was released by the Astros before the start of the season, and isn’t likely to be a player that gets much playing time with the Mets unless Pete Alonso was to miss time. Even still there’s no guarantee.

Quero is currently in Arizona rehabbing the shoulder injury that caused him to miss most of the 2024 season. The 22-year-old backstop will remain at the complex in Maryville, and the hope is he’ll be able to head to Triple-A Nashville in the coming weeks. Quero is one of the best catching prospects in baseball.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters that Montas has begun throwing from 60 feet away. The right-hander will likely need a few bullpens and multiple rehab appearances before he’ll be ready to rejoin the Mets’ rotation at some point late in the spring, and that’s assuming no setbacks.

Holliday will take a seat for the first time in 2025 against left-hander Garrett Crochet. That means Jordan Westburg will handle duties at second base with Ramon Urias getting a start at the hot corner.

A little bit of irony that Moniak will make his first start of the 2025 season against the team that made him the first-overall selection back in 2016. Moniak is still just 26, but he hasn’t shown anything that suggest there’s fantasy potential in his left-handed bat; even playing in a home park like Coors Field. Jordan Beck gets the day off against Zack Wheeler and the Phillies.

Dobnak cleared waivers after being designated for assignment. The 30-year-old provides depth for Minnesota, and while he’ll need to be added to the 40-man roster to do so, it wouldn’t be an upset if he made more appearances with the Twins in 2025.

Leiter faced just one batter over the minimum before departing. The Rangers are calling his exit precautionary, so while his status for his next start is still up in the air, there’s a decent chance he’ll be able to take the mound next week.

Hill also missed Tuesday’s game because of the tightness in his back. The 29-year-old outfielder will give way to Javier Sanoja, but Marlins manager Clayton McCullough told reporters that Hill will be available off the bench.
