  • TEX Relief Pitcher #56
Rangers signed RHP Jonathan Holder to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Holder will be trying to make it back to the majors for the first time since 2020, when he finished up a run with the Yankees that saw him post a respectable 4.38 ERA in 176 2/3 innings over five seasons. The 30-year-old had a 5.40 ERA in 66 2/3 innings for the Angels’ Triple-A affiliate last season.
  • DET Second Baseman #33
Colt Keith went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run against the Royals on Monday.
Keith’s home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Seth Lugo in the fifth inning to bring the Tigers within a run. Keith was hitting .152 with no home runs on May 5th. Since then, he’s 114-for-392 (.291) with 13 home runs and 50 RBI in 108 games. A lot of players’ numbers would look better with their slow start removed, but there’s no question Keith has been one of the best rookies since the beginning of May. Having just turned 23 in August, Keith is one of the best young hitters in baseball. He’s hitting .263 with a .698 OPS and 58 RBI on the year.
  • KC Shortstop #7
Bobby Witt Jr. went 2-for-5 with a grand slam and a stolen base against the Tigers on Monday.
Witt Jr.'s home run was his 32nd of the year. He hit a grand slam off Reese Olson in the third inning. Witt Jr’s stolen base was his 29th of the season. He’s putting the finishing touches on an incredible fantasy season that will have him off the board in the top three picks in 2025 drafts. Witt Jr. is hitting .332 with a .984 OPS and 108 RBI on the year.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #68
Jason Foley tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Royals on Monday.
The save was his 24th of the season. Foley struck out one batter in a perfect ninth inning to preserve a one-run lead for Detroit. He doesn’t get every save opportunity as part of A.J. Hinch’s bullpen, but he is the preferred option. Foley has a 3.02 ERA on the year.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #42
Seth Lugo allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Tigers on Monday.
Lugo gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out four. He was staked to a 4-0 lead in the third inning, but couldn’t complete five innings and then the Royals bullpen gave up the lead anyway. Lugo has been an absolute steal at his preseason ADP. He’s 16-8 with a 3.05 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 173 strikeouts in 197 2/3 innings. The 34-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants at home this weekend.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #45
Reese Olson allowed four runs in 2 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Tigers’ 7-6 victory over the Royals on Monday.
Olson gave up four hits, walked one and struck out three. The big blow was a grand slam by Bobby Witt Jr. with one out in the third inning. Olson looked sharp, but only threw 50 pitches in his first start since returning from a shoulder injury. He was having a promising season before he got hurt and it’s a shame that he had an abbreviated rehab assignment and isn’t really viable in fantasy without being completely stretched out. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Orioles on the road this weekend.
  • ATL Left Fielder #20
Marcell Ozuna went 0-for-4 against the Dodgers on Monday.
Ozuna is in the middle of a mini-slump. He’s 5-for-29 (.172) with no home runs and no RBI in his last nine games. It’s coming at a bad time for fantasy managers in the middle of pennant races. Ozuna is hitting .302 with 37 home runs and 98 RBI on the year.
  • LAD Left Fielder #37
Teoscar Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI against the Braves on Monday.
Hernadez has hits in five straight games since missing a few games with an ankle injury. He’s 6-for-19 (.316) with a home run and three RBI in that time. Hernandez is hitting .267 with an .824 OPS and 90 RBI on the year.
  • LAD First Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a three-run home run against the Braves on Monday.
Freeman’s home run was his 22nd of the year. He hit a three-run shot off Aaron Bummer in the seventh inning. Freeman is 10-for-46 (.217) with three home runs and nine RBI in 14 games in September. He’s hitting .280 with an .860 OPS and 87 RBI on the season.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #54
Max Fried allowed three runs in six innings and took the loss against the Dodgers on Monday.
Fried gave up two hits, walked three and struck out seven. He bounced back nicely in a tough matchup after allowing 11 hits in his last start. He’s won just two of his last 12 starts. Fried is 9-10 with a 3.49 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 151 strikeouts in 159 2/3 innings on the year. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Marlins on the road this weekend.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #66
The Twins are planning to demote Jorge Alcala to make room on the roster for waiver claim Cole Irvin.
Alcala had one horrible outing last month in which he gave up five runs to the Rangers, but he’s been really good for the most part; he has 16 holds and a 3.46 ERA on the season. He deserves better than this, but such is the curse of having option years.
