Royals signed RHP Seth Lugo to a two-year, $30 million contract with a $15 million player option for 2026.
The deal, which was agreed to earlier this week, is now official. Lugo generated interest from several contending squads, but winds up heading to Kansas City to front their starting rotation alongside burgeoning ace Cole Ragans. The 34-year-old right-hander made the successful conversion to a starting role this past season with the Padres, compiling a strong 3.57 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 140/36 K/BB ratio across 146 1/3 innings (26 starts). He’ll certainly benefit from facing some of the weaker AL Central lineups moving forward and represents a borderline top-60 starting pitcher in fantasy drafts heading into next spring.
