  • CWS Center Fielder #27
White Sox sent OF Trayce Thompson outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Thompson, who was part of the Lance Lynn deal with the Dodgers, went 14-for-82 with one homer for the White Sox, leaving him at .162/.285/.294 in 179 plate appearances for the season. He had a great run with the Dodgers in 2022, hitting .268/.364/.537 in 239 plate appearances, but he’ll likely only be offered minor league deals as a free agent.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #65
Giants optioned RHP Landen Roupp to Triple-A Sacramento.
Roupp spent just one day in the majors and gave up three runs over 2 2/3 innings in relief against the Dodgers. There hasn’t been any word on who is taking his roster spot. Perhaps the Giants will call up Mason Black for a few days until Kyle Harrison rejoins the rotation.
  • SF Relief Pitcher
Giants sent LHP Raymond Burgos outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
Burgos was called up June 24, made his major league debut that night, was sent down the next day and was DFA’d a day later. No one decided to claim him on waivers, even though he had a 1.64 ERA and a 23/2 K/BB in 22 innings as a reliever for Sacramento before his callup.
  • SF First Baseman #61
Giants sent 1B Trenton Brooks outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
Brooks was DFA’d last week after going 3-for-25 in his first major league stint. It’s his first outright assignment, so he’ll go back to being a key cog in the River Cats’ lineup.
  • BOS Shortstop #85
Marcelo Mayer didn’t play for Double-A Portland on Monday because of back tightness.
He’s expected back on Tuesday. Mayer, the fourth overall pick in the 2021 draft, is hitting an impressive .307/.371/.479 in Double-A this year.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #83
The White Sox are promoting prospect Ky Bush from Double-A to Triple-A.
The 24-year-old Bush, who was acquired from the Angels in the Lucas Giolito/Reynaldo López deal last summer, had been one of the Southern League’s best pitchers, going 5-3 with a 2.12 ERA and a 78/33 K/BB in 80 2/3 innings. He’s not a particularly exciting fantasy prospect, but he does offer middle-of-the-rotation potential and there’s a good chance he’ll make his major league debut this summer.
  • MIL Center Fielder #10
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said he’s open to playing Sal Frelick at third base with Garrett Mitchell back, but that he has no immediate plans to do so.
Before Mitchell suffered a fractured finger at the very end of the spring, it looked like the Brewers would mostly play Mitchell in center and Frelick at third, with Joey Ortiz serving as a utilityman. Ortiz, though, has earned regular playing time, and Frelick has totaled just four innings at third base since the season started. Frelick is getting the nod over Mitchell in center field tonight, and it seems clear he’s the higher of those two and Blake Perkins on the depth chart for the moment.
  • MIL Third Baseman #3
Joey Ortiz is back at third base Monday after a three-game absence due to neck stiffness.
Ortiz is leading off with the Brewers facing a lefty tonight. He’ll continue to hit low in the order against righties.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #47
Jared Koenig said an MRI on his sore forearm revealed no structural damage.
Koenig was placed on the IL on Saturday due to forearm inflammation. In light of the good news, he might have a shot at returning right after the break.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
An MRI on Corey Seager’s injured left hand came back negative, leaving the shortstop day-to-day.
Seager left Saturday’s game after being hit by a pitch and didn’t play Sunday. With no damage inside the hand, he’ll be able to play as soon as he feels comfortable gripping and swinging a bat.
  • TOR Shortstop #7
Isiah Kiner-Falefa said he underwent an MRI after feeling something in his left knee while stretching prior to Monday’s game.
This doesn’t sound good. Kiner-Falefa, who is putting together a terrific season as a super-utilityman, was a last-minute scratch before the game today. If he lands on the injured list, it’ll probably mean more regular playing time for Davis Schneider and a longer look for Addison Barger.
