  • ATL Starting Pitcher #64
Braves RHP Darius Vines struck out nine batters over 5 2/3 innings in his last Arizona Fall League start.
Vines also allowed just one run and lowered his AFL ERA to 1.59. The 25-year-old was solid in his first MLB action this year, posting a 3.98 ERA across 20 1/3 innings while striking out 14. He’s getting in work in the fall after being injured for much of the 2023 season, pitching just 49.1 innings in the Minors before his 20-inning MLB stint. With just a 90 mph fastball, it feels unlikely that Vines can win a shot in the Braves rotation for 2024, but he’s certainly performed when given the chance.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #39
Corbin Burnes allowed two runs on seven hits in six innings in a loss to the Rays on Sunday.
Burnes had kept the Rays off the board for the first six innings before a two-run shot by Jonny DeLuca ended that. While the overall line looks good for Burnes, he struck out just three batters and posted just a 16 percent whiff rate and 22 percent CSW. He has benefitted from some soft competition of late, but this doesn’t seem like the version of Corbin Burnes we’ve seen in the past. The good news for him is the easy matchups keep coming with the Tigers up next.
  • LAD Left Fielder #37
Teoscar Hernández is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Guardians.
No surprise here, as Hernández is likely a few days away from returning from his ankle injury. Andy Pages again gets the start in the outfield and will hit seventh.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #52
Zack Littell threw five scoreless innings in a win over the Orioles on Sunday, allowing three hits while striking out four.
Littell matched Corbin Burnes with five scoreless innings apiece, but the Rays were able to break through against Burnes in the top of the sixth, which allowed Littell to snag the win. The right-hander didn’t allow an extra-base hit, but he also had just six whiffs on 42 swings for a 14 percent whiff rate and 23 percent CSW. It wasn’t an overwhelming start but fantasy managers won’t complain. Littell will take a 3.89 ERA into a tough matchup against the Guardians next week.
  • CIN Second Baseman #6
Jonathan India left Sunday’s game against the Mets with elbow discomfort.
India went 0-for-3 before leaving the contest. The infielder will likely be examined to determine the severity of the injury. Amed Rosario replaced India in the lineup.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #58
Luis Castillo left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals with an injury. He allowed two runs in three-plus innings before exiting.
Castillo clearly twisted his ankle on a pitch and immediately exited the game with a trainer. The right-hander will likely be evaluated, but is in real danger of missing time — potentially the rest of the season. Trent Thornton has entered in Castillo’s place.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #50
Reds placed LHP Sam Moll on the 15-day injured list with a left shoulder impingement.
There’s a good chance Moll’s season is over, but he’ll miss at least the next two weeks with the designation. The left-hander has been one of their better relief options this year with a 3.35 ERA and 38/14 K/BB over 37 2/3 innings in 48 appearances.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #65
Reds recalled RHP Casey Legumina from Triple-A Louisville.
Legumina has been a constant traveler between Louisville and Cincinnati, and this time he gets the call up to replace Sam Moll with Moll on the 15-day injured list.
  • SD Center Fielder #3
Jackson Merrill is hitting seventh and playing center field against the Giants on Sunday.
Merrill was able to pinch hit for the Padres during Saturday’s loss, so it’s not a surprise that the star rookie is able to get back into the lineup against the Giants on Sunday. The 21-year-old will be facing Spencer Bivens and the San Francisco bullpen in the series finale.
  • NYY Third Baseman #19
Jon Berti (calf) could rejoin the Yankees from the 60-day injured list on Monday.
Berti will have a chance to return to the lineup for the first time since the end of May because of his left calf strain. The 34-year-old will be a bench option for the Yankees whenever he returns, and isn’t likely to be a significant fantasy contributor.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #58
Guardians designated RHP Scott Barlow for assignment.
Barlow made 63 appearances for the Guardians this year, and he registered a 4.25 ERA with 68 strikeouts in 55 innings. Not horrible numbers, but not what a small market (cheap) organization is looking for from someone who was making $6.7 million. It wouldn’t be a surprise at all if a team made a waiver claim on Barlow, and he’ll likely decline an outright if he isn’t.
