Athletics sent RHP Yacksel Ríos outright to Triple-A Las Vegas.
Ríos finds himself off Oakland’s 40-man roster after wrapping up the regular season on the 60-day injured list following season-ending shoulder surgery back in mid-July. The 30-year-old right-hander will most likely wind up electing free agency in the coming days.

Brooks Baldwin hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning Friday, but the White Sox still fell to the Athletics.
Pirates' Heaney worth a fantasy rotation spot
Eric Samulski pops the hood on Andrew Heaney's impressive start for the Pittsburgh Pirates to explain why he's worth adding to fantasy rosters for spot-starts in good matchups.
  • ATH 1st Baseman #21
Tyler Soderstrom drove in a run while going 3-for-4 in Friday’s win for the Athletics over the White Sox.
  • ATH Shortstop #5
Jacob Wilson went 3-for-4 with a homer to help the Athletics to a 6-5 win over the White Sox on Friday.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #19
Mason Miller gave up a two-run homer but still was credited with a save Friday against the White Sox.
  • ATH Starting Pitcher #40
Luis Severino worked six innings while allowing three runs to get a win Friday over the White Sox.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #46
Brock Burke gave up four runs while working 5 1/3 innings of relief against the Athletics on Friday.
  • ATL 3rd Baseman #27
Austin Riley went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a walk in an 8-2 win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.
The Braves got to Zac Gallen early in this one and later broke the game open against the Diamondbacks’ bullpen. Riley was in the middle of that rally against Gallen with a run-scoring single and then put a bow on their three-run eighth with another run-scoring single. He’s now riding a six-game hit streak over which he’s raised his batting average from .265 to .304. He remains a stalwart at third base who’s on track to put up All-Star caliber production.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #51
Chris Sale allowed five hits and one run with two walks and four strikeouts over five innings in a win against the Diamondbacks on Friday.
This was better by Sale, but still not necessarily good. He just can’t seem to wrangle his slider which has made him very predictable all season. He threw just three of them total when behind in the count and literally only threw a fastball when he was in a two or three ball count and the hitter had fewer than two strikes. His velocity has fully rebounded though, which is a great sign he could go on a hot streak soon. It’s just frustrating he was spotted a three-run lead early and couldn’t make it past the fifth inning. Things won’t get easier for him either, as his next start is scheduled to come against the Rockies in Coors Field.
  • ARI 3rd Baseman #28
Eugenio Suárez went 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, and two runs scored in a loss against the Braves on Friday.
Suárez hadn’t drawn a walk in over a walk before working his two free passes in this one and wound up scoring the Diamondbacks’ only two runs. Also, he made a costly throwing error in the sixth inning that allowed the Braves to lengthen their lead. Such is the ‘Eugenio Suárez experience’ though as he tries to navigate through yet another slow start to his season.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #23
Zac Gallen allowed four hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts across five innings in a loss to the Braves on Friday.
Things continue to be difficult for Gallen. He needed 59 pitches to get through the first two innings and it looked like the wheels were about to fall-off. Then, he found a groove and retired the final 10 batters he faced. It was a very fastball heavy approach from him, especially early, because he struggled to command his knuckle curveball. He managed to break off a few good ones, but the consistency he often has on that pitch just wasn’t there. His next chance to get back on track is scheduled to come against the Mets.
