  • NYM Manager
Buck Showalter is not returning as the manager for the Mets in 2024.
Showalter broke the news during a press conference before Sunday’s game against the Phillies. The 67-year-old skipper went 175-147 in his two years with the Mets. The move will allow new general manager David Sterns to select his own manager as the Mets look to get back above .500 next season.
  • OAK Starting Pitcher #38
JP Sears allows two runs in six innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Friday.
Sears gave up four hits, walked three and struck out four. He pitched well, but allowed solo home runs to Mitch Garver and Cal Raleigh. Sears finishes the season 11-13 with a 4.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 137 strikeouts in 180 2/3 innings. The 11 wins were a big improvement after Sears won just five of 32 starts in 2023.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #22
Bryan Woo tossed five scoreless innings and got the win in the Mariners’ 2-0 victory over the Athletics on Friday.
Woo gave up three hits, walked one and struck out eight. He finishes the year 9-3 with a 2.89 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 101 strikeouts in 121 1/3 innings. Injuries limited Woo to just 22 starts on the season, but he was excellent when he pitched. There will be a premium on Mariners pitchers in 2025 drafts.
  • TEX Right Fielder #53
Adolis Garcia went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run against the Angels on Friday.
Garcia’s home run was his 25th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Reid Detmers in the first inning. Garcia has had at least 25 home runs, 85 RBI and nine stolen bases in each of the last four seasons. While his average is merely .224 this year, Garcia’s consistency in the other categories makes him a good value if he’s discounted in 2025 drafts.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Angels on Friday.
Langford’s home run was his 15th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Reid Detmers in the first inning. Langford is closing out the season on a high note. He’s hitting .308 with seven home runs, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in 24 games in September.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #39
Kirby Yates tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Angels on Friday.
The save was his 32nd of the season. Yates lowered his ERA to 1.19 on the season. He’s quietly been one of the better closers in fantasy this season.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #48
Reid Detmers allowed four runs in five innings and took the loss against the Rangers on Friday.
Detmers gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out 12. He ends the season with a 6.70 ERA. While he had 12 strikeouts, Detmers also allowed three home runs against Texas. He remains a volatile fantasy option heading into 2025 drafts, where he is sure to be an afterthought.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #48
Jacob deGrom allowed one run in four innings and got a no-decision in the Rangers’ 5-2 victory over the Angels on Friday.
deGrom gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. The four-inning outing is the longest of his three starts this year. He only threw 53 pitches. Despite not pitching deep into games, deGrom looks good enough in a limited showing that fantasy managers should have interest in taking him in the early rounds of 2025 drafts.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #98
Yankees recalled RHP Will Warren from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Warren is coming back up to the majors as bullpen depth for the last two games of the season. Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt are scheduled to start for the Yankees.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #72
Yankees optioned RHP Cody Poteet to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Poteet was recalled earlier in the week with Nestor Cortes going on the injured list. Now he’s headed back to the minors to make room for Will Warren as a fresh arm for the bullpen.
  • SD Second Baseman #4
Luis Arraez doubled twice and tripled Friday as the Padres topped the Diamondbacks 5-3.
Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-5 to raise his average to .309, but Arraez snapped out his mini-slump to retain most of his edge in the race for the NL batting title. He’s batting .314 after collecting three extra-base hits for the fifth time in his career. He last did so on June 3, 2023.
