Royals optioned INF/OF Matt Beaty to Triple-A Omaha.
The veteran was optioned late last night after he started and hit third in the order for them against the White Sox. Still, Beaty has only been playing about two games a week and is hitting just .230/.347/.295 in 72 plate appearances this season. The Royals have not yet announced a corresponding move to fill his spot on the active roster.

Tyler Soderstrom is on the bench for Sunday’s game against the Royals.
It appears to be a routine day off for Soderstrom, who has split time between left field and first base of late with Nick Kurtz back from the injured list. It’ll be JJ Bleday getting an opportunity in left field on Sunday afternoon in his place.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.
  • TEX Left Fielder #32
Evan Carter (wrist) is not in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the White Sox.
Carter told reporters his left wrist felt “outstanding” prior to Sunday’s contest, so we’re assuming his absence for the second consecutive game is merely out of an abundance of caution prior to Monday’s off-day. The 22-year-old outfielder should be ready to return for Tuesday’s series opener against the Royals, barring an unexpected development.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #80
Rangers recalled RHP Kumar Rocker from Triple-A Round Rock.
Rocker draws the starting assignment for Sunday’s game against the White Sox with veteran Tyler Mahle hitting the injured list with shoulder soreness. The 25-year-old is a captivating talent, but the results simply haven’t been there this season in the majors. He’s recorded a bloated 8.87 ERA across 23 1/3 innings (six starts) and is not a recommended streaming option for fantasy purposes, even in a tasty matchup against a rebuilding Chicago club.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #51
Rangers placed RHP Tyler Mahle on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to June 12, with right shoulder soreness.
Mahle hits the shelf, as expected, ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the White Sox. No word yet on exactly how much time the 30-year-old righty figures to miss. His absence opens the door for Kumar Rocker to return to the big leagues and take his rotation spot.
  • CWS Center Fielder #88
Luis Robert Jr. has been scratched from the lineup for Sunday’s showdown against the Rangers.
No word yet on the reason for the move. The 27-year-old outfielder has been replaced by Michael A. Taylor in center field. There should be an update on his status shortly.
  • KC 2nd Baseman #6
Jonathan India (shoulder) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Athletics.
India takes a seat for the second straight game as he continues to deal with a left shoulder subluxation that he suffered while attempting to make a diving catch during Friday’s game. The 28-year-old is presumably available off the bench, if needed, with Nick Loftin handling the keystone in his absence.
  • STL Left Fielder #33
Brendan Donovan (toe) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Brewers.
As expected, Donovan makes his return to Sunday’s lineup following a four-game absence due to a left big toe sprain. The 28-year-old on-base machine is back at second base and leading off with Masyn Winn getting a rare day off. It’ll be Jose Barrero taking over at shortstop on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Isaac Paredes (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for the third consecutive game on Sunday against the Twins.
The positive news for fantasy managers is that Paredes has managed to avoid a trip to the injured list after suffering a hamstring injury during Thursday’s showdown against the White Sox. The 26-year-old infielder figures to be ready to return to Houston’s lineup at some point during a four-game series against the Athletics, which kicks off on Monday night. It’ll be Luis Guillorme filling in at third base on Sunday afternoon in his absence.
  • WSH Shortstop #5
CJ Abrams is batting third on Sunday against the Marlins.
Abrams has been moved out of the leadoff spot for the first time this season after making 56 consecutive starts as the primary table-setter. It’ll be Alex Call taking over atop the lineup to face Marlins phenom Eury Pérez. It’ll be interesting to see if Abrams continues to bat towards the middle of the order in the coming weeks. It would certainly lead to additional run-producing opportunities, but might also eliminate some stolen-base chances.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #37
Scott Blewett will open ahead of Cade Povich on Sunday against the Angels.
Povich has been hit hard in two of his last three outings, and has consistently struggled to work deep into games, so he’ll get a break from facing the top of Los Angeles’ order on Sunday afternoon.
