  • BAL Relief Pitcher #51
Orioles sent RHP Austin Voth outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Voth passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment last weekend and will remain with the Orioles as extra organizational pitching depth. The 31-year-old right-hander has posted a lackluster 5.19 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 34/15 K/BB ratio across 34 2/3 innings (25 appearances) this season in the majors. He’s made 139 career appearances (13 starts) in the big leagues dating back to 2018.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #60
Lucas Erceg tossed a scoreless ninth inning and got the save against the Twins on Saturday.
Erceg’s save was his 10th of the season. He struck out one in a perfect ninth inning. Erceg seems to be over his hand injury and looks as good as ever as the Royals’ closer.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #17
Bailey Ober tossed seven shutout innings and got a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday.
Obert allowed one hit, walked none and struck out seven. The Twins bullpen wasted a wonderful outing by Ober by allowing four runs in the eighth inning once he was removed from the game. He’s bounced back with two excellent starts since allowing nine runs to the Braves on August 26th. Ober is 12-6 with a 3.77 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 162 strikeouts in 155 innings this year. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Reds at home next week.
  • CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi hit a three-run homer and went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.
Benintendi got the White Sox back in the game with a three-run homer in the seventh that shrunk the Boston lead to 7-5. It’s the 16th homer for the 30-year-old, and it comes against the team that employed him for quite some time. The pop has been decent for Benintendi, the .223/.288/.385 slash has made it not matter too much for fantasy consideration.
  • BOS Right Fielder #17
Tyler O’Neill homered twice to help the Red Sox to a win over the White Sox on Saturday.
O’Neill smacked a two-run shot off Garrett Crochet in the first, and hit a solo blast off Enyel De Los Santos in the fifth. That gives the powerful right-handed hitter 27 homers in his first year as a member of the Red Sox, and he also singled to raise his average to .258. The latter number isn’t terribly impressive, but it’s a very passable number when you hit for power like O’Neill does.
  • BOS Second Baseman #23
Romy González stole three bases and went 3-for-4 in a 7-5 win for the Red Sox over the White Sox on Saturday.
Those three steals give González 10 on the season. he also drive in a run, scored two of his own and hit a double. That’s called filling the box score, kiddos. González has been a pretty solid option for Boston in 2024 with a .285/.333/.437 slash, but it’s obviously worth noting it’s come in just 73 games and 158 at-bats.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #74
Kenley Jansen worked the ninth inning without allowing a run to pick up a save against the White Sox on Saturday.
Jansen was able to return after missing Friday’s game due to issues with his lat, and he was able to pick up his 26th save while throwing just seven pitches — six of those for strikes. Despite that low pitch count, there’s a chance Jansen may not be available tomorrow as the Red Sox try and keep the 36-year-old veteran for these final few weeks. It’s something to keep an eye on, anyway.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #64
Cooper Criswell went five innings and allowed two runs to get a win Saturday over the White Sox.
That’s the first time Criswell was able to complete five innings since July 23. The 28-year-old did allow a two-run homer to Andrew Vaughn, but he blanked the lowly White Sox for the rest of his outing while issuing two walks with no strikeouts. Criswell provides some real-life value to the Red Sox because of his pitching versatility. His fantasy value is essentially limited to when he pitches against the White Sox. He shouldn’t be started against the Yankees next weekend.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #45
Garrett Crochet gave up four runs in two innings in a loss Saturday to the Red Sox.
Crochet’s start was cut short because of his strict regimen for the rest of the season, but might have been cut short regardless. The 25-year-old needed 51 pitches to get through his two frames, and he gave up four runs in the first before settling down in the second. Crochet’s numbers have imploded in the second half, as he’s now up to 3.83 ERA after carrying a number 3.02 prior to the All-Star break, and it’s fair to say he’s worn down in his first year as a starter. He’ll have another short outing against the Athletics on Friday — assuming he isn’t shut down, of course.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #48
Alec Marsh allowed two runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Royals’ 4-2 victory over the Twins on Saturday.
Marsh gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. Marsh allowed both runs in the third inning on an RBI triple by Jose Miranda and an RBI double by Matt Wallner. He has a 4.66 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 105 strikeouts in 116 innings this year. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Pirates on the road next week.
  • STL Catcher #43
Pedro Pages went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run against the Mariners on Saturday.
Pages’ home run was his sixth of the year. He hit a two-run shot off Logan Gilbert in what was otherwise a scoreless game. The clutch two-run shot was the biggest hit of the year for the backup backstop. Pages is hitting .245 with a .683 OPS and 22 RBI on the year.
