  • CWS Relief Pitcher #66
White Sox recalled RHP Edgar Navarro from Triple-A Charlotte.
It’ll be the second big-league stint with the 25-year-old Navarro, who allowed two runs in three innings last time he was up. He had a 4.28 ERA and a 38/28 K/BB ratio in 40 innings for Charlotte.
  • SD Relief Pitcher #79
Padres selected the contract of RHP Lake Bachar from Triple-A El Paso.
San Diego had 24 hours to add Bachar to their 40-man roster after he triggered the opt-out in his minor league deal with the club and the Padres did just that on Friday afternoon. The 29-year-old righty will remain stationed at Triple-A El Paso for now, but figures to get a look in the majors at some point down the home stretch, if the need arises due to injury or ineffectiveness.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #61
Cody Bradford will start on Saturday against the Red Sox.
Bradford gets the ball after Dane Dunning threw two innings in relief during Friday’s series opener against the Red Sox. The 26-year-old southpaw, who missed three months earlier this year due to a back injury, has compiled a solid 3.38 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 19/3 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings (four appearances, three starts) this season for the Rangers. There’s some streaming appeal here for fantasy managers, especially in deeper mixed leagues, considering Bradford remains widely available in an overwhelming majority of leagues.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr (femur) remains without a timetable to return.
Tatis underwent an MRI during last month’s All-Star break, which revealed enough healing that he was cleared for light baseball activities, including swinging and running, but it’s unclear when he’ll be ready to return. The 25-year-old has been out since late June due to a stress reaction in his right femur.
  • BOS First Baseman #36
Triston Casas (ribs) is in the lineup on Saturday for Triple-A Worcester.
“Right now when I make contact with the ball, it feels like someone’s stabbing me with a knife right in the ribs.” Casas told NESN’s Laura Stickells on Friday. “Right when it happened I felt like I got shot with a gun, so it’s dulled down.” So, that technically qualifies as progress. It certainly sounds like it’s going to be a pain tolerance matter for Casas moving forward as the only remedy is going to be time off from baseball activities. The 24-year-old appears poised to play through the issue down the home stretch to help the Red Sox in the midst of a playoff push.
  • OAK Shortstop #5
Jacob Wilson (hamstring) resumed light baseball activities earlier this week.
Wilson has progressed to hitting off a tee in addition to some light jogging. The 22-year-old rookie shortstop, who has been out since late July recovering from a left hamstring strain, remains without a definitive return timeline, but he should be ready to return to Oakland’s lineup by the end of August.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #37
Jared Jones (lat) is scheduled to face on Saturday in a live batting practice session.
Jones has been on the shelf since early July recovering from a Grade 2 lat strain, but there’s optimism he’ll be ready to return at some point later this month. The 22-year-old rookie sensation should be ready for a minor league rehab assignment at some point in the next week or so.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #74
Kenley Jansen (back) is available for Saturday’s game against the Rangers.
Jansen didn’t end up pitching, but was available, if needed, for Friday’s series opener against the Rangers after tweaking his back during Wednesday’s save against the Mariners when he slipped off the mound while delivering a pitch. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward, but back issues are notoriously complicated matters. It sounds like he’s good to go for this weekend.
  • NYM Shortstop #10
Ronny Mauricio underwent a cleanup procedure on his right knee earlier this week.
Mauricio tore his ACL last offseason while playing in the Dominican Winter League and went back under the knife this week to remove some scar tissue in his surgically-repaired knee, which ostensibly eliminates any shot of him returning this season. Barring any additional setbacks, he should be fully healthy in time for spring training.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #93
Brewers RHP prospect Jacob Misiorowski will make his debut on Saturday for Triple-A Nashville.
Among the top pitching prospects in baseball, Misiorowski was promoted to the doorstep of the majors earlier this week, and will convert to a full-time relief role in an effort to bolster Milwaukee’s bullpen down the home stretch. The hard-throwing 22-year-old possesses overpowering stuff and could be dominant right away in relief, which makes him a fantasy-relevant stash in all deeper mixed leagues until further notice.
  • NYY First Baseman #48
Anthony Rizzo (forearm) has resumed swinging a bat with low intensity.
It’s unclear what type of role Rizzo will occupy if he’s able to make it back to New York this season with rookie Ben Rice seemingly emerging as a legitimate option at the cold corner, despite some struggles of late. The 34-year-old veteran is still a ways off from a potential return. He’s been out since mid-June recovering from a right forearm fracture.
