  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI, and two steals on Wednesday in a 5-2 win over the Orioles.
Tatis Jr. knocked a base hit in the first inning, then put the Padres on the board with a single in the third. He’d come around to score later in the frame on a hit by Xander Bogaerts. Tatis Jr. added another hit in the seventh and reached third base on an error as he stole second before then stealing home. The 24-year-old star is hitting .270/.325/.473 with 19 homers, 63 RBI, and 22 steals across 462 plate appearances.
  • MIN Right Fielder #19
Alex Kirilloff (back) was pulled off of his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday after experiencing renewed soreness in his back.
Ugh. Kirilloff — who has been sidelined since mid-June with his back soreness — went 1-for-5 with a double in his first minor league rehab game on Friday. No word yet on how long he’ll be shut down for or when the Twins potentially envision him returning to action.
  • WAS Shortstop #8
Jose Tena went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Braves on Saturday.
Tena’s home run was the first of his career. He hit a two-run shot off Charlie Morton in the second inning. Acquired from the Guardians in the deal for Lane Thomas prior to this year’s trade deadline, Tena is hitting .359 with a home run, six RBI and a steal in 39 at-bats for Washington. The power and speed he showed at Triple-A this year (18 homers and 15 steals) seems to be translating to the major league level making him an interesting pickup in deeper formats.
  • STL Catcher #40
Willson Contreras suffered a fractured right middle finger after being hit by a pitch during Saturday’s game against the Twins and will head to the 15-day injured list.
It’s a terrible blow for both fantasy managers and for the Cardinals who have been relying on Contreras’ tremendous offensive production this season. No word yet on how long he’ll be shelved for, but with only five and a half weeks left in the season there’s no guarantee that he’s going to make it back before September is through. Ivan Herrera will be promoted from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday to help share the load behind the plate while Contreras is shelved.
  • ATL First Baseman #28
Matt Olson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, a double and an RBI against the Nationals on Saturday.
Olson tied the game with an RBI double in the sixth inning and came around to score the go-ahead run on an RBI single off the bat of Travis d’Arnaud. Olson hit his 21st home run on August 14th, but since then he’s 4-for-31 (.129) with two doubles and three RBI. He’s hitting .225 with a .724 OPS and 65 RBI on the year. Olson’s production is a far cry from last year when he hit 54 home runs with 139 RBI and was top five in the NL MVP voting.
  • ATL Shortstop #11
Orlando Arica went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Nationals on Saturday.
Arcia’s home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Jake Irvin in the fifth inning. Arcia is hitting just .225 this year, but his .254 BABIP nearly 30 points lower than his career .283 BABIP and almost 50 points lower than the .301 BABIP he had in 2023 when he hit .264. He’s picked it up lately going 23-for-93 (.247) with six home runs and 10 RBI over his last 26 games. Arcia is best used in NL-Only leagues.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher #27
Jake Irvin allowed two runs in 5 1/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Braves on Saturday.
Irvin gave up five hits, walked three and struck out three. He allowed a solo home run to Orlando Arcia in the fifth inning and an RBI double to Matt Olson in the sixth inning. Irvin is 9-10 with a 3.80 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 130 strikeouts in 156 1/3 innings this year. The 27-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs at home next week.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #50
Charlie Morton allowed two runs in 5 2/ 3 innings and got a no-decision in the Braves’ 4-2 victory over the Nationals on Saturday.
Morton gave up eight hits, walked two and struck out six. He pitched a solid game, but wasn’t able to complete six innings which ultimately cost him the win because the Braves took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. Morton has allowed two runs or less in three of his last four starts. He’s 7-7 with a 4.24 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 133 strikeouts in 131 2/3 innings on the year. The 40-year-old right-hander is set to face the Phillies on the road next week.
  • KC Second Baseman #19
Michael Massey went 2-for-4 with a run scored against the Phillies on Saturday.
Massey is 21-for-61 (.344) with two home runs, 11 runs scored and six RBI in his last 17 games. He doesn’t have a stolen base on the season, but he can hit. Massey is hitting .273 with 10 home runs and 35 RBI this year. He’s been a valuable player in AL-Only formats this season.
  • PHI Shortstop #7
Trea Turner went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI against the Royals on Saturday.
Turner started the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning, scored on an RBI double by Bryce Harper in the fifth inning and had another RBI single in the eighth inning. Turner only has 14 stolen bases this year, but he’s hitting .302 with 14 home runs and 46 RBI.
  • PHI Catcher #10
J.T. Realmuto went 3-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI against the Royals on Saturday.
Realmuto now has 10 home runs on the season. He hit a three-run shot off Brady Singer in the sixth inning and another three-run homer off Chris Stratton in the eighth inning. Realmuto had been quiet upon his return from midseason meniscus surgery, but broke out in a big way against Kansas City. It would be a welcome sight to see the 33-year-old backstop finish the season strong. He’s hitting .262 with a .733 OPS and 36 RBI on the year.
