    Rockies optioned RHP Riley Pint to Triple-A Albuquerque.
    Pint has made just one relief appearance this season in the big leagues and will head back to the minors ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Athletics.

    Michael Lorenzen allowed five runs over five innings in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
    This was a rough one for Lorenzen. He walked two batters in the second inning before Zach Neto brought a run in to score with a base hit. Mickey Moniak followed with a three-run homer. Neto doubled in a fifth run for the Angels in the third inning. Lorenzen tossed two more scoreless frames, ending his day after five innings. The 32-year-old right-hander ends the first half with a 3.52 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 65/44 K/BB ratio across 92 innings.
  • ARI Third Baseman #28
    Eugenio Suárez went 2-for-4 with a home run, double, two runs scored, and three RBI in the Diamondbacks’ 7-5 win over the Braves on Wednesday.
    Suárez took Charlie Morton deep for a two-run blast in the second inning to put the Diamondbacks on the board. He added a double in the seventh to drive in a third run and scored on a single by Jose Herrera. The 32-year-old third baseman is hitting .208/.293/.345 with eight homers and 43 RBI across 351 plate appearances.

    Paul Sewald tossed a clean ninth inning to convert the save against the Braves on Wednesday.
    Sewald came into this one having blown his last three save chances. Manager Torey Lovullo expressed his confidence in the veteran closer and went back to him with a two-run lead in the ninth on Wednesday. Sewald shut the door on Atlanta with a clean frame for his 12th save.
  • ARI Second Baseman #4
    Ketel Marte went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored against the Braves on Wednesday.
    Marte took Charlie Morton deep for a solo homer in the third inning, then knocked a base hit in the eighth before scoring on a sacrifice fly by Geraldo Perdomo. The 30-year-old second baseman is up to 18 homers while slashing .283/.351/.506 with 62 runs scored, 52 RBI, and four steals across 393 plate appearances.
  • ATL Left Fielder #20
    Marcell Ozuna went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
    Ozuna knocked a base hit to lead off the second inning for Atlanta and scored on a double by Travis d’Arnaud. With a runner on in the eighth, he took Ryan Thompson deep for a game-tying two-run homer. The 33-year-old slugger is up to 24 homers while hitting .296/.374/.568 with 55 runs scored and 75 RBI across 385 plate appearances.

    Slade Cecconi allowed three runs with three strikeouts across four innings in a no-decision against the Braves on Wednesday.
    Cecconi got the start in this one. After a scoreless first inning, Travis d’artaud drove in two runs with a double in the second. A walk, single, and sacrifice fly would drive in a third run in the third inning. Cecconi tossed one more scoreless inning before his day was done at 62 pitches. The 25-year-old right-hander has posted a 6.14 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 53/14 K/BB ratio across 66 innings.

    Charlie Morton allowed four runs with five strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
    Three of the four runs scored against Morton came on the long ball. Eugenio Suárez took him deep for a two-run shot in the second inning. Ketel Marte followed with a solo homer in the third. Morton would toss four more scoreless innings before leaving with one out and one runner on in the seventh. The inherited runner would come in to score. The 40-year-old right-hander ends the first half with a 4.07 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 97/38 K/BB ratio across 97 1/3 innings.
  • MIL Shortstop #3
    Joey Ortiz (neck) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at High-A Wisconsin on Thursday.
    The 25-year-old infielder has been shelved since the start of July due to inflammation in his neck. It sounds like he’s doing much better though after taking a few days off and is ready to get back into game action. He should only require a game or two there before he’s ready to return to the Brewers.

    Daulton Varsho was removed from Wednesday night’s battle against the Giants due to a left knee contusion.
    Varsho dove headfirst into first base in an attempt to avoid a tag from Logan Webb, but ended up still being out and now has a bruised left knee to show for his efforts. Fortunately, the injury isn’t believed to be anything serious and Varsho should be able to return to action in a day or two.
  • HOU Catcher #21
    Yainer Diaz went 3-for-4 with three RBI in Wednesday’s win over the Marlins.
    Diaz drove in the Astros’ first run of the night when an RBI single brought home Jose Altuve. The star catcher would later drive in two more runs on an RBI single in the sixth, pushing his RBI total to seven in the month of July. Diaz has been hot as of late, going 9-for-21 (.429) in his last five games.
