  • FA Relief Pitcher #46
Blue Jays sent RHP Zach Thompson outright to Triple-A Buffalo.
Thompson passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will presumably remain with the Blue Jays as extra organizational pitching depth. The 29-year-old righty has yet to appear in the majors this season after being acquired from the Pirates back in January.

  • SEA Center Fielder #44
Julio Rodríguez is scheduled to undergo an MRI exam after leaving Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays in the first inning due to discomfort in his lower right quad area.
The 23-year-old outfielder looked uncomfortable while tracking a fly ball in the outfield during the top half of the first inning, then he was replaced by Ty France before he had a chance to take hit first at-bat. The Mariners should have the results of his imaging before Sunday’s game, so expect another update on his status before then.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #31
Lance Lynn allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in 2 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Nationals on Saturday.
Lynn gave up nine hits, walked four and struck out two. Lynn had won back-to-back starts and seemed to be putting together a nice season before it all came crashing down against the Nationals. He allowed three home runs and looked more like he did last year when he had a 5.73 ERA and allowed 44 home runs. Lynn’s ERA increased nearly a full run from 3.59 to 4.48 with this outing. The 37-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs at home next weekend.
  • NYM Catcher #13
Luis Torrens went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and 3 RBI against the Pirates on Saturday.
It doesn’t get much better for backup catchers. Torrens cleared the bases with a double in the third inning. He added two singles later on. He’s hitting .317 with three home runs and eight RBI in 41 at-bats for the Mets this year.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #57
Eduardo Rodriguez (lat) will ramp up his throwing progression after receiving good news from his follow-up MRI on Saturday.
The 31-year-old hurler has yet to debut for the Diamondbacks due to a lat injury that has shelved him since spring training. He’ll resume throwing off of flat ground once again and stretch out from there. He’s still a long way away from potentially joining the Diamondbacks’ rotation — especially with all of the setbacks that he has experienced thus far.
  • PIT Shortstop #15
Oneil Cruz went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run against the Mets on Saturday.
Cruz’ home run was his 13th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off David Peterson in the second inning. Cruz was hitting just .145 with two home runs in 76 at-bats against left-handed pitching entering Saturday. He’s hitting .244 with a .737 OPS and 39 RBI on the season.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Edwin Diaz tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Pirates on Saturday.
Diaz slammed the door on the Pirates to preserve a 5-2 victory for New York. The save was his eighth of the season and first since returning from a 10-game suspension for using an illegal foreign substance. The Mets had the league’s worst bullpen ERA while he was out. The team and fantasy managers are happy to see him back out there.
  • ARI Second Baseman #4
Ketel Marte (back) was held out of the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Saturday evening’s showdown against the Padres.
Marte was removed from Friday’s game due to tightness in his back. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that it’s only a minor issue and won’t require a lengthy absence. He’s expected to be available off the bench on Saturday night and could return to the Diamondbacks’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #11
Padres placed RHP Yu Darvish on the restricted list.
Padres’ manager Mike Shildt told reporters on Saturday that Darvish is dealing with a personal matter involving his family but wouldn’t elaborate. It’s not clear how long he’ll be away from the team for. The 37-year-old hurler is battling elbow inflammation in addition to his strained groin. Once he’s back with the club and ready physically, he’s likely to need at least a couple of rehab starts before he’s ready to return to action.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base against the Pirates on Saturday.
Nimmo’s stolen base was his eighth of the year. He was 0-for-10 with two walks in his last three games. Nimmo is hitting .249 with an .810 OPS and 52 RBI on the season.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #23
David Peterson allowed two runs in 4 1/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Mets’ 5-2 victory over the Pirates on Saturday.
Peterson gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. Peterson has won three of his seven starts for the Mets this year and it would’ve been four if he completed five innings on Saturday. He has a 3.58 ERA, but his xFIP is 4.51. This is not the David Peterson we’re used to seeing. In 2022, he had a 10.7 K/9, 3.83 ERA and 3.31 xFIP. Last year, he had a 10.3 K/9, 5.03 ERA, and 3.59 xFIP. Last year he was unlucky with his ERA, but this year his strikeouts are way down. His K/9 is just 6.45 this year and that’s likely to catch up to him eventually given where his xFIP is. The 28-year-old left-hander is set to face the Nationals at home next week.
