Dodgers signed RHP William Cuevas to a minor league contract.
Cuevas last appeared in the majors for the Red Sox during the 2018 campaign when he made a career-high nine appearances (one start). The 32-year-old righty has spent the last four seasons pitching for the KT Wiz of the Korea Baseball Organization. He’ll add some extra organizational starting pitching depth for the Dodgers.

Andrew Benintendi left Thursday’s game against the Guardians with soreness in his right hand.
Benintendi is currently being evaluated. The soreness comes after he was plunked by a pitch that caused the 30-year-old to immediately exit the game. Even if Benintendi checks out fine, he may miss a game or two in the Cactus League as a precaution.
  • WSH Left Fielder #29
James Wood (quad) will be the designated hitter against the Mets on Friday.
After that, the Nats will determine Wood’s next steps. The 22-year-old outfielder has been out while dealing with a quad strain, but he’s been able to participate in defensive drills over the weekend. It doesn’t sound like this will be an injury that carries into the regular season, which is good news even before considering just how much offensive upside Wood has in his bat.
  • TB Third Baseman #77
X-rays were negative on Jose Caballero’s left foot.
Caballero fouled a ball off his foot during Thursday’s game and exited shortly after, but he’s only dealing with a bruise. He’ll likely sit a couple exhibition contests out, but assuming no setbacks there’s no reason to think this injury should carry into the regular season.
  • CWS Left Fielder #23
Andrew Benintendi left Thursday’s game against the Guardians after being hit by a pitch.
Benintendi made it to first and then exited the game. The 30-year-old appeared to have been hit in the wrist/hand area, and he’ll likely undergo imaging to determine the severity of the injury.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #59
Evan Phillips threw a bullpen Thursday.
That’s the third bullpen session for Phillips. The 30-year-old has been ruled out for the start of the regular season, but assuming he continues to make steady progress, he has a good chance to join the Dodgers’ bullpen relatively early in the spring.
  • BAL Shortstop #2
Gunnar Henderson left Thursday’s game against the Blue Jays with lower right side discomfort.
Henderson was only able to play one inning before leaving the contest. The Orioles will take every necessary precaution considering there’s still a month before actual games begin, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Henderson sat out a couple of Grapefruit League games — at the very least — before he returns. Henderson should still be one of the first names off the board for drafts that occur in the coming days, but obviously it’s a situation that has to be paid close attention to.
  • ATL Relief Pitcher #48
Braves reassigned RHP Wander Suero to minor league camp.
Suero was signed to a minor league pact with an invitation to spring training back in December, but was always a long shot to make the Opening Day roster. Assuming there’s no opt-out, Suero will begin 2025 with Triple-A Gwinnett.
  • CWS Shortstop #83
Colson Montgomery was scratched from Thursday’s game against the Guardians with back spasms.
The White Sox are calling Montgomery’s scratch precautionary. The 23-year-old should be back in the lineup for Chicago in the coming days, assuming no setback.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #49
Thyago Vieira will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery.
The operation will cost Vieira all of 2025, and potentially a portion of 2026 as well. The hard-throwing right-hander is just organizational depth at this stage of his career.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #71
Josh Winder will undergo Tommy John surgery.
Winder will miss all of the 2025 season and could miss time to begin 2026. The 28-year-old was re-signed by Arizona to a minor league contract at the end of January, and he’ll likely be looking at a similar pact with whatever team signs him next winter.
