Tigers reassigned INF’s Justyn-Henry Malloy and Colt Keith, RHP Elvis Alvarado, LHP Adam Wolf, C’s Dillon Dingler and Julio Rodriguez to minor league camp.
Malloy, who was acquired from the Braves in an offseason trade centered around reliever Joe Jiménez, is the most prominent inclusion among the first round of cuts from Tigers’ camp this spring.

Mets sent LHP Matt Gage outright to Triple-A Syracuse.
Gage has been officially removed from New York’s 40-man roster, but will stick around as extra organizational relief depth instead of electing free agency. The 31-year-old lefty didn’t pitch in the big leagues last year and has made 11 appearances in the majors since 2022.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher
Mariners selected the contract of RHP Blas Castano from Triple-A Tacoma.
Castano earns a spot on Seattle’s 40-man roster to shield him from next month’s Rule 5 Draft after posting a respectable 4.38 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 108/43 K/BB ratio across 125 1/3 innings (29 appearances, 26 starts) between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #46
Bryse Wilson has elected free agency.
Wilson heads to the open market after refusing an outright assignment from the Brewers following his removal from the club’s 40-man roster. The 26-year-old righty posted a serviceable 4.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 82/31 K/BB ratio across 104 2/3 innings (34 appearances, nine starts) for Milwaukee.
  • FA First Baseman #9
Brewers 1B/OF Jake Bauers elected free agency.
Bauers has opted to hit the open market in search of a new opportunity rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A following his removal from Milwaukee’s 40-man roster. The 29-year-old posted a pedestrian .662 OPS with 12 homers and 13 stolen bases in 116 games this past season for the Brewers.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #58
Cubs claimed LHP Rob Zastryzny off waivers from the Pirates.
Zastryzny pitched to a stellar 1.17 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 5/1 K/BB ratio across 7 2/3 innings (nine appearances, three starts) last year for the Brewers before landing on the shelf with left elbow tendinities in late July. The 32-year-old southpaw will bolster Chicago’s organizational relief depth heading into the offseason.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #64
Cubs designated RHP Jimmy Herget for assignment.
Herget has been booted from Chicago’s 40-man roster to make room for lefty reliever Rob Zastryzny. The 31-year-old journeyman righty made eight relief appearances last year for the Braves.
  • LAA Shortstop #4
Angels selected the contract of INF/OF Scott Kingery from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Kingery has been officially added to Los Angeles’ 40-man roster after being acquired last week from the Phillies. The 30-year-old hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since the 2022 campaign, but posted a 25-homer, 25-steal campaign last year at the Triple-A level. He could carve out a versatile utility role with the Angels, who seem willing to give him a look in spring training.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #78
    Angels released LHP Kenny Rosenberg.
Rosenberg has been booted from Los Angeles’ 40-man roster to make room for recently acquired utility specialist Scott Kingery. The 29-year-old lefty made 17 appearances (five starts) over the last three seasons for the Angels.
  • NYY Center Fielder #70
Yankees sent OF Duke Ellis outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Ellis got into 11 contests last year between the Yankees and White Sox. The 26-year-old speedster has been removed from New York’s 40-man roster, but will remain with the club as extra depth.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #27
Pirates declined LHP Marco Gonzales’s $15 million club option for 2025.
Let’s just say we saw this one coming. Gonzales is expected to miss a significant portion of next season after undergoing flexor tendon surgery on his left elbow back in late August. The 32-year-old southpaw will head to free agency after making just seven starts in his lone season with the Pirates.
