Hirokazu Sawamura has signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball.
Sawamura was unable to find an opportunity in the majors for the 2023 season after posting a respectable 3.39 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 101/59 K/BB ratio across 103 2/3 innings (104 appearances) over the last two seasons with the Red Sox before being released last September. The 34-year-old righty is headed back to Japan where he spent the first decade of his professional career.

Jackson Chourio is not in the starting lineup against the Giants on Thursday.
Chourio has really struggled at the plate as of late with just six hits over his last 10 games, and the Brewers will give the 21-year-old a day of rest to reset. Expect Chourio to be back in the lineup to begin Friday’s series against the Cardinals. Jake Bauers will start at first base with Rhys Hoskins the DH and Christian Yelich in left field.
Cubs CF Crow-Armstrong has 'true star potential'
James Schiano discusses the breakout of Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong, explaining how the 23-year-old Los Angeles native has been able to turn his game around this season after struggling to start his career.
  • MIL 2nd Baseman #21
Caleb Durbin is not in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Giants.
Durbin will take a seat for the matinee against the Giants with Vinny Capra getting the start at third base and hitting eighth. In 25 plate appearances, Durbin has hit .261/.320/.435 since being promoted from Nashville.
  • SF 1st Baseman #41
Wilmer Flores is not in the lineup Thursday against the Brewers.
Flores has played in every game this year, and the Giants will try and get the 33-year-old a day of rest. Luis Matos will start in right field with Heliot Ramos acting as the designated hitter.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh (hamstring) is starting his rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday.
Marsh will hit second and play center field to begin his rehab assignment. The 27-year-old will likely need a few games in the minors, and assuming there’s no setback, he could be back in the Phillies’ lineup by the end of April or the very beginning of May.
  • COL Relief Pitcher
The Rockies added Juan Mejia as their 27th player for Thursday’s doubleheader against the Royals.
Mejia will have a chance to make his MLB debut if he gets in either game. The right-hander will all but assuredly head back to Triple-A Albuquerque after the doubleheader.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #62
Jonathan Bowlan will be the 27th player for the Royals for Thursday’s doubleheader against the Rockies.
Bowlan will be up for the two-game series as an extra bullpen arm for the two-game set. He’ll need to be added to the active roster after Thursday’s twin-billing in order to remain with Kansas City.
  • NYY Center Fielder #12
Yankees activated OF Trent Grisham off the paternity list.
The Yankees had already cleared a spot on the active roster for Grisham. The 28-year-old outfielder will be back in action after missing three days while helping welcome a new member to the family.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #52
Brewers optioned RHP Bryan Hudson to Triple-A Nashville.
Hudson is back in Triple-A after the Brewers activated Tobias Myers (oblique) off the 15-day injured list for his first start of 2025. Hudson will be back at some point this spring.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #36
Brewers activated RHP Tobias Myers off the 15-day injured list.
Myers will be making his season debut after missing the first month of the season with an oblique strain. The 26-year-old was very effective in his rookie campaign, and while he’s a better ‘real-life’ option than a fantasy one, he limits hard contact enough to be considered against all but the best lineups. Fantasy managers may want to wait a turn through the rotation before adding him to a lineup.
  • COL Right Fielder #82
Rockies OF prospect Yanquiel Fernandez went 3-for-6 with two home runs, four RBI, and two runs scored for Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday.
Fernandez now has seven home runs on the season to go along with a .254/.322/.592 slash line, 14 RBI, and 13 runs scored. He’s also struck out 13 times and walked six in 19 games, which is consistent with his decent strikeout rates throughout his minor league career. Fernandez is just 22 years old, but he also played 33 games at Triple-A last year, so he could push for a big league call-up if he continues to show this kind of power. Both Jordan Beck and Zac Veen didn’t make the most of their first MLB opportunities, and Fernandez is also on the 40-man roster, so perhaps he gets the next shot.
