Cairo filled in admirably as the White Sox’ interim manager for the final few weeks of a challenging 2022 season in Chicago after Tony La Russa was forced to step away due to health issues. The former big leaguer will head to New York to work with their minor leaguers moving forward.

Garcia’s home run was his 25th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Reid Detmers in the first inning. Garcia has had at least 25 home runs, 85 RBI and nine stolen bases in each of the last four seasons. While his average is merely .224 this year, Garcia’s consistency in the other categories makes him a good value if he’s discounted in 2025 drafts.

Langford’s home run was his 15th of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Reid Detmers in the first inning. Langford is closing out the season on a high note. He’s hitting .308 with seven home runs, 19 RBI and six stolen bases in 24 games in September.

The save was his 32nd of the season. Yates lowered his ERA to 1.19 on the season. He’s quietly been one of the better closers in fantasy this season.

Detmers gave up eight hits, walked one and struck out 12. He ends the season with a 6.70 ERA. While he had 12 strikeouts, Detmers also allowed three home runs against Texas. He remains a volatile fantasy option heading into 2025 drafts, where he is sure to be an afterthought.

deGrom gave up four hits, walked none and struck out five. The four-inning outing is the longest of his three starts this year. He only threw 53 pitches. Despite not pitching deep into games, deGrom looks good enough in a limited showing that fantasy managers should have interest in taking him in the early rounds of 2025 drafts.

Warren is coming back up to the majors as bullpen depth for the last two games of the season. Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt are scheduled to start for the Yankees.

Poteet was recalled earlier in the week with Nestor Cortes going on the injured list. Now he’s headed back to the minors to make room for Will Warren as a fresh arm for the bullpen.

Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-5 to raise his average to .309, but Arraez snapped out his mini-slump to retain most of his edge in the race for the NL batting title. He’s batting .314 after collecting three extra-base hits for the fifth time in his career. He last did so on June 3, 2023.

Darvish struck out four and walked three tonight. Seven of the 14 balls in play against him were hit hard, but he was able to hold Arizona to a solo homer and two singles anyway. We don’t have a ton of faith in him at this point, but at least he only needs to be the Padres’ fourth starter in the postseason. He ends the regular season 7-3 with a 3.31 ERA.

Jason Adam got four outs to set him up. Suarez has had a shaky September, but he’s now converted three straight save chances after blowing three of his previous five. He’ll probably get Saturday off after throwing 22 pitches tonight, but he could be in line for another chance Sunday.
