Albert Pujols was named as the National League Comeback Player of the Year on Tuesday.
Unlike most recipients of this award, Pujols wasn’t returning from any sort of major injury or illness -- he simply returned to relevance. Pujols surpassed 300 plate appearances for the first time since 2019 and wound up crushing 24 home runs while slashing .270/.345/.550 over 351 plate appearances in his farewell tour.

Anthony Santander (hip) is not in the lineup against the Padres on Thursday.
Santander left the game on Wednesday with left hip inflammation, and with a day game after a night game, the Blue Jays won’t risk him aggravating the injury. There is no word yet on how long Santander might be out, but Daulton Varsho will slide to the DH spot on Thursday with Myles Straw in centerfield and Jonatan Clase in left field. George Springer will also get the day off.
What Crews' MRI means for Hassell III's outlook
With Dylan Crews set to undergo an MRI after exiting Tuesday's game, Eric Samulski assesses whether fantasy managers should rush to roster former top prospect Robert Hassell III after his promotion.
  • TEX 3rd Baseman #20
Ezequiel Duran will start at shortstop and bat ninth for the Rangers on Thursday against the Yankees.
With left-hander Carlos Rodon on the mound, Josh Smith will get the day off. Duran will slide into the lineup at shortstop, but Sam Haggerty will bat leadoff. Duran is not a recommended add in any formats.
  • TEX Right Fielder #53
Adolis García is starting in right field and batting seventh for the Rangers against the Yankees on Thursday.
García is hitting just .209/.253/.343 in 19 games in May with a 27 percent strikeout rate. His quality of contact has been good with a 90.2 mph average exit velocity over that stretch, but he also has a 19 percent infield fly ball rate, which suggests he’s simply getting under the ball too much. It could be a timing issue or a bat path issue, but the power is still in there if he can iron out his contact point issues.
  • CLE 1st Baseman #72
Guardians 1B/OF prospect C.J. Kayfus went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and a two-run home run for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old is the 5th-ranked prospect in the Guardians’ system and is inching ever closer to his big league debut. He’s now hitting .364/.434/.652 in 17 games at Triple-A with four home runs, 13 RBI, and a steal. With Lane Thomas coming off the IL soon, there is no immediate spot for Kayfus to play, but Cleveland may have to find a spot for him this summer if he keeps producing.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #43
Alexis Díaz allowed three runs on two hits in one inning for Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Díaz walked two and struck out one, giving up a three-run homer to Jarred Kelenic. Díaz now has a 5.91 ERA in Triple-A and doesn’t seem close to being brought back up to Cincinnati.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #63
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said, “There’s a really good chance” that Justin Martinez (shoulder) “will be joining us in St. Louis.”
Martinez looked good in his rehab outing at Triple-A, consistently hitting triple digits with his fastball. The MRI showed no structural damage in his shoulder, so perhaps this was just a dead arm period due to overuse. However, that also means the Diamondbacks may be cautious about how they deploy him once he’s back. We wouldn’t cut Shelby Miller right away until we see how the team plans to manage the end of games with all of their relievers healthy.
  • ATH 1st Baseman #16
Nick Kurtz homered twice in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Congrats to Kurtz on his first two-homer game of his career, even if it comes in a loss. The rookie 22-year-old doubled his total of roundtrippers to four on the season, and improves his OPS to .696. Expect some ups and downs from Kurtz during his first taste of MLB action, but he offers significant offensive upside in his left-handed bat.
  • LAA Right Fielder #3
Taylor Ward doubled and tripled in a win over the Athletics on Wednesday.
The Angels are hitting the heck out of the baseball right now, and on top of four homers off JP Sears, Ward was able to contribute a pair of extra-base hits. He also singled, so he was just a homer short of the cycle. “Just” may not be the right word for it, but you know what we mean. Ward is now hitting .214/.259/.487 in 2025.
  • LAA Catcher #14
Logan O’Hoppe homered twice to help the Angels to a 10-5 win over the Athletics on Wednesday.
O’Hoppe scored three runs in the contest, and he also drew a walk. The 25-year-old is now up to 13 homers on the season, and continues to look like a strong bet for power for the remainder of 2025 and beyond. He’s also hitting a very respectable .270 on the season, but it’s likely that number is going to drop as we get deeper into the summer. As long as the ball keeps going over the fence, fantasy managers won’t mind too much.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto homered and stole a base in a win over the Athletics on Wednesday.
A nice combo meal for Neto on a night where the Angels hit four homers off JP Sears. That roundtripper for Neto gives him eight on the 2025 campaign, and he has the same number of stolen bases. The 2022 first-round pick has become a quality power/speed player, and he’s provided it with an average of .283. This is probably the ceiling for Neto, but that’s a pretty good ceiling.
