The one-time top prospect was designated for assignment on September 21, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as outfield depth for the Giants. The 28-year-old slashed an atrocious .167/.211/.472 across 39 plate appearances during his time in San Francisco.

Luke Jackson blew a save while allowing two runs — one earned — and picked up a loss to the Athletics on Thursday.

While one of those runs was caused in part by poor defense from Leodys Taveras, it’s fair to say that Jackson didn’t pitch very well in this contest. He threw 11-of-21 pitches for strikes, and didn’t fool the Sacramento hitters whatsoever. It’s just the first blown save of the season for Jackson, but the Rangers won’t stay too patient with the 33-year-old if he doesn’t pitch well in the coming weeks.

Josh Jung hit a solo homer in a loss to the Athletics on Thursday.

Jung hit one of three solo homer for the Rangers in the contest, all off starter J.T. Ginn. The 27-year-old has homered twice in his limited action in 2025, and he’s up to seven RBI over the first 16 games. As long as Jung stays healthy, he should be a solid third base option.

Jacob Wilson

ATH Shortstop #5

Jacob Wilson hit a walk-off single to give the Athletics a 4-3 win over the Rangers on Thursday.

With the score tied at 3-3, Wilson singled home Luis Urias to give the A’s the victory. The 23-year-old shortstop has been excellent over the first month of the season, as he’s now hitting .330/.337/.457 on the 2025 campaign. Some more patience would be nice — and maybe a few more thefts as well — but Wilson has shown he’s more than a one-category player. At least so far.

J.T. Ginn

ATH Relief Pitcher #70

J.T. Ginn allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Thursday.

Ginn allowed all three runs on solo homers, and gave up six hits in total. He also issued a pair of walks, and didn’t have his best control or command while throwing 41-of-71 pitches for strikes. Ginn has allowed three runs in back-to-back starts while failing to reach five innings, and he’s not a recommend fantasy option when he faces the Rangers again next week.

Jacob deGrom

TEX Starting Pitcher #48

Jacob deGrom picked up no decision while allowing two runs over 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts against the Athletics on Thursday.

The right-hander allowed a two-run double in the third inning, and outside of that, deGrom held the Athletics’ offense in check with no walks. The 36-year-old has looked the part over his last few starts, and while it wasn’t quite as impressive as his seven innings of one-run baseball, it was a reminder of what deGrom is capable of. He’ll take a 3.33 ERA into a rematch with the A’s on Tuesday.

Yandy Diaz

TB 1st Baseman #2

Yandy Diaz went 3-for-6 with a run scored and an RBI in Thursday’s extra-inning win for the Rays over the Diamondbacks.

Diaz came up huge with an RBI single in the ninth inning to tie the game at 4-4. This makes back-to-back games where the 33-year-old has picked up three hits, and he’s seen his average rise from .213 to .248 in the process. Diaz will continue to hit at the top of the Tampa Bay lineup, and while he’s gotten off to a disappointing start, he’s worthy of roster consideration if he was dropped by an impatient fantasy manager.

Tim Tawa

ARI 2nd Baseman #13

Tim Tawa hit a solo homer in an extra-inning loss to the Rays on Thursday.

Tawa also drew a free pass. The 26-year-old has shown off his pop since being recalled from Reno to replace Ketel Marte, and he’s now gone deep four times with a .639 slugging percentage over 13 games and 36 at-bats. If Tawa keeps this up — to a degree, of course, he’s not going to slug .639 all year — the Diamondbacks may need to find a way to get his bat in the lineup.

Christopher Morel

TB 3rd Baseman #24

Christopher Morel hit a homer, doubled and drove in three runs in a 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday in 10 innings

Morel doubled in a run in the sixth, and then swatted a two-run homer in the 10th to extend the Rays’ lead to 7-4. Morel is starting to swing the bat well with homers in back-to-back games, and fantasy managers know that he’s been prone to hot and cold runs. This appears to be the beginning of a hot one.

Pete Fairbanks

TB Relief Pitcher #29

Pete Fairbanks worked a scoreless 10th to get a save Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Fairbanks did issue a walk, but he was able to keep that runner and the zombie at second from crossing the plate. It’s the fourth save of the season for the right-hander, and the scoreless frame puts his ERA at a very respectable 2.89 over the first month of the season. Fairbanks should continue to be a solid — if unspectacular — closing option.

Corbin Burnes

ARI Starting Pitcher #39

Corbin Burnes gave up three runs — one earned — while striking out eight over 5 1/3 innings while not picking up a decision against the Rays on Thursday.

Burnes generated 10 swings and misses while throwing 89 pitches; 54 of those landing for strikes. The right-hander allowed only three hits, and his defense did him no favors in what was one of his better efforts of the young campaign. Burnes takes a 4.05 ERA into a scheduled start against the Mets next week.
