Tigers signed RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon to a minor league contract.
The right-hander was cut loose by the Nationals last week after struggling through seven starts at Triple-A Rochester. He’ll see if he can turn things around in the Tigers organization. The 30-year-old owns a 4.33 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 152/81 K/BB ratio over 147 2/3 innings in his career at the big league level.

Heliot Ramos is absent from Wednesday’s lineup due to illness.
It appeared to be a routine off day at first glance, but Ramos is dealing with an illness that could potentially keep him out of Thursday’s series finale against the Diamondbacks as well. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
How Carpenter's injury impacts Tigers' DH spot
Eric Samulski breaks down the impacts of Kerry Carpenter's injury for the Detroit Tigers, highlighting which players fan can expect to step up and how the team will rotate its DH spot.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
Matt Chapman (hand) is scheduled to take on-field live batting practice on Thursday.
Chapman is getting close to kicking off a minor league rehab assignment as he works his way back from a right hand strain. Barring any setbacks, he could potentially make it back before the All-Star break.
  • CIN 3rd Baseman #7
Spencer Steer was scratched from the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox with a right hand contusion.
Cincinnati ultimately decided not to take any chances after Steer was hit by a pitch on the right hand during the opening contest of Wednesday’s twin bill at Fenway Park. Ironically, he’s been replaced at first base by Christian Encarnacion-Strand, who was originally sitting out after fouling a ball off his foot earlier in the day. The 27-year-old first baseman has been diagnosed with merely a contusion, so it doesn’t appear that he’s dealing with any fractures. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status heading into Friday’s series opener against the Phillies.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #17
Shohei Ohtani led the National League in balloting for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
Ohtani earned an automatic starting berth as the senior circuit’s leading vote-getter in phase one balloting for the upcoming Midsummer Classic, which will be played on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta. The 30-year-old two-way sensation won’t pitch in the event, but he’s going for a fifth straight season after reaching the 30-homer plateau earlier this week. Here’s the rest of the NL starting lineup: Will Smith (C), Freddie Freeman (1B), Ketel Marte (2B), Francisco Lindor (SS), Manny Machado (3B), Ronald Acuña Jr. (OF), Pete Crow-Armstrong (OF), Kyle Tucker (OF) and Ohtani (DH). The rest of the NL roster, including pitchers and reserves, will be announced this weekend.
  • NYY Right Fielder #99
Aaron Judge led the American League in balloting for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game.
Judge earned an automatic starting berth as the league-leader in phase one balloting for the Midsummer Classic, which will be played on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta. The 33-year-old Yankees icon, who has launched 33 homers and piled up 67 RBI through 85 games this season, is headed to his seventh All-Star Game in a couple weeks. Here’s the entire AL starting lineup: Cal Raleigh (C), Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (1B), Gleyber Torres (2B), Jacob Wilson (SS), José Ramírez (3B), Judge (OF), Riley Greene (OF), Javier Báez (OF) and Ryan O’Hearn (DH). The complete All-Star rosters, including pitchers and reserves, will be announced this weekend.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #50
Kutter Crawford underwent season-ending right wrist surgery on Wednesday.
The procedure involved reconstruction of the stabilizing sheath of the extensor carpi ulnaris in his right wrist. There isn’t an official return timeline from the Red Sox at the moment, but Crawford has plenty of time to be ready for next spring. He wound up missing the entire 2025 campaign due to knee and wrist issues.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #47
Giants recalled RHP Mason Black from Triple-A Sacramento.
Black gets the call to join San Francisco’s relief mix ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Diamondbacks with rookie Carson Seymour returning to the minors. The 25-year-old posted a bloated 6.44 ERA and 31/15 K/BB ratio over 36 1/3 innings (nine appearances, eight starts) last year in his first taste of the big leagues. He figures to operate in long relief.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #77
Giants optioned RHP Carson Seymour to Triple-A Sacramento.
Seymour allowed four runs — three earned — on seven hits, including three homers, over four innings of work in a pair of relief appearances for San Francisco after being called up last Friday for the first time in his career.
  • SEA Catcher #29
Cal Raleigh is on the bench for Wednesday’s game against the Royals.
Raleigh takes a seat for just the third time this season as Seattle attempts to manage his workload amid an extended stretch without any off days built into the schedule. It’ll be Mitch Garver handling the catching duties with Jorge Polanco at DH on Wednesday night. The 28-year-old slugging backstop has put together arguably the greatest first-half performance by a catcher in fantasy baseball history with a major league-leading 33 home runs, 71 RBI and nine stolen bases through 84 games. He’s definitely earned a break.
  • TEX Left Fielder #36
Wyatt Langford (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Round Rock.
Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young told reporters Langford is expected to be activated for Saturday’s game against the Padres. The 23-year-old outfielder will get in at least a handful of minor league contests after making it through Wednesday’s live batting practice session without any issues.
