    Nationals released LHP Jake McGee.
The 36-year-old southpaw had been designated for assignment earlier in the week and is now free to latch on anywhere else he so chooses. He appeared in 12 games during his time with the Nationals, registering a 6.30 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 10/5 K/BB ratio over 10 innings. He has now been cut loose by the Nationals, Giants and Brewers already this season.

Hunter Greene was removed from Tuesday’s start against the Brewers with groin discomfort.
Reds manager Terry Francona told reporters Greene was lifted after just 85 pitches in his third start back from the injured list after experiencing a similar groin issue. Not ideal. The flame-throwing 25-year-old righty struck out seven and allowed two runs over five innings. He’ll presumably undergo further evaluation and testing to determine the severity of the issue. It’s unclear whether he’ll make his next start on Monday against the Guardians at this juncture.
Blue Jays getting boost with Gimenez returning
With Andres Gimenez rejoining the Blue Jays lineup, Eric Samulski still sees value with the second baseman, particularly in stolen bases, and breaks down how his return affects the current lineup.

X-rays came back negative on Brandon Woodruff’s right elbow.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy told reporters initial X-rays didn’t reveal any fractures, but Woodruff will undergo further testing out of an abundance of caution. The 32-year-old righty was hit by a comebacker during his final rehab start for Triple-A Nashville. There should be some additional clarity on his status in the coming days.
  • CHC 1st Baseman #29
Michael Busch went 3-for-4 with a homer, a triple, three RBI a walk as the Cubs topped the Nationals 8-3 on Tuesday.
Busch has five hits, including two homers, in two games this month, and his OPS is back up to .895 after a down month in May. It’s going to be really difficult for him to make the All-Star team in a league that also has Freddie Freeman, Pete Alonso, Bruce Harper and Matt Olson at first base, but he’ll deserve consideration if he maintains his current pace.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #22
Cade Horton moved to 3-0 after allowing three runs in 5 1/3 innings against the Nationals on Tuesday.
The Cubs prevailed 8-3 tonight and are now 5-0 when their rookie starter takes the mound. An easy schedule has certainly helped Horton thus far, but it’s a great surprise that he’s walked just five batters in 25 2/3 innings. Mixed leaguers might want to sit him down for his start against the Tigers this weekend, but he’s worth using against lesser lineups.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #32
Trevor Williams lost to the Cubs after giving up five runs in 4 1/3 innings on Tuesday.
Williams, now 3-6 with a 6.03 ERA, has allowed four or five runs in six of his last seven starts. With Brad Lord having transitioned to short relief, the Nationals probably don’t have anyone that want to replace Williams with just yet. However, Cade Cavalli might be an option before the end of June. Williams is due to face the Rangers next.
  • Christian Encarnacion-Strand (back) went 0-for-2 with three walks on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Louisville.
Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .346 with two homers through eight rehab games at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old slugger figures to get a couple additional games under his belt before the Reds bring him back to the big leagues.
  • BAL 3rd Baseman #11
Jordan Westburg (hamstring) went 1-for-5 on Tuesday in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Norfolk.
Westburg played all nine innings at third base in his fourth rehab game at the Triple-A level. The 26-year-old infielder should return to Baltimore’s lineup at some point later this week.
  • BAL Catcher #72
Orioles C/1B prospect Samuel Basallo launched two solo homers on Tuesday for Triple-A Norfolk.
Basallo has clearly ascended into top-15 range prospect status for dynasty purposes over the past few weeks. He’s gone deep in back-to-back contests and is up to 12 round-trippers through 36 games this season at the Triple-A level. The 20-year-old phenom figures to reach the big leagues at some point in the second half as a first base or DH option for Baltimore. The biggest long-term question for fantasy managers is how many years he’ll manage to retain catcher eligibility into the future.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #4
Ketel Marte went 3-for-3, belted a pair of home runs and drove in three on Tuesday, propelling the Diamondbacks to an 8-3 victory over the Braves in Atlanta.
Marte opened the scoring in the top half of the first inning, crushing an 0-2 changeup from Spencer Strider for a majestic 445-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot. He victimized Strider once again in the third inning, that time a 371-foot (113.2 mph EV) two-run blast that increased the Diamondbacks’ advantage to 4-0. The 31-year-old superstar also drew a pair of walks in the ballgame, reaching base safely in all five of his plate appearances. On the season, he’s now slashing a robust .294/.417/.597 with 10 homers, 16 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 143 plate appearances.
  • ARI Center Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll slugged his 17th and 18th home runs of the season on Tuesday, helping to power the Diamondbacks to victory over Atlanta.
The dynamic 24-year-old outfielder tagged Braves’ right-hander Spencer Strider for a 438-foot (106.1 mph EV) solo shot to lead off the fifth inning, increasing the D-backs’ lead to 5-3. Carroll also singled in the third inning and rode home on Ketel Marte’s second home run of the evening. He walked in the seventh inning as well but was caught attempting to pilfer second base. Carroll then put the icing on the cake with a 416-foot (107.4 mph EV) three-run shot off of Rafael Montero in the ninth inning that increased the lead to 8-3. On the season, he’s slashing a .262/.336/.578 with 18 homers, 39 RBI and 10 stolen bases.
