Giants sent C/DH Yermín Mercedes outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
Mercedes has lost his 40-man roster spot but has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization.

Guardians designated RHP Cody Bolton for assignment.
Bolton loses his spot on Cleveland’s 40-man roster with David Fry returning from the 60-day injured list. The 26-year-old righty made only one relief appearance this season for the Guardians. He figures to pass through waivers unclaimed, but there might be some interest out there.
Palencia 'asserts himself' as Cubs closer
Daniel Palencia has four saves in his last four appearances, and James Schiano examines how the 25-year-old flamethrower has officially asserted himself as the Chicago Cubs closer moving forward.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #10
Astros recalled INF/OF Shay Whitcomb from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Whitcomb returns to the majors with Chas McCormick headed to the injured list with an oblique strain. The versatile 26-year-old utility prospect has been sizzling-hot at the Triple-A level in recent days, homering a staggering five times over his last three contests, which includes a three-homer explosion on Wednesday. It’s unclear whether he’ll play enough to matter for fantasy purposes, but he’s been one of the more intriguing prospects in the landscape for the last year or two. It wouldn’t be shocking if he stayed hot and manages to carve out a semi-regular role in Houston over the next few weeks.
  • HOU Left Fielder #20
Astros placed OF Chas McCormick on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 30, with a left oblique strain.
McCormick has played sparingly this season as a reserve outfielder on Houston’s bench with Jake Meyers establishing himself as the primary center fielder. The 30-year-old figures to miss at least a couple weeks.
  • STL Left Fielder #70
Cardinals selected the contract of INF/OF Ryan Vilade from Triple-A Memphis.
Vilade gets the call back to the majors with Jordan Walker heading to the injured list with wrist inflammation. The 26-year-old will occupy a spot on St. Louis’ bench. He got into a career-best 17 contests last year for the Tigers and went 8-for-48 at the plate during that span.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #35
Cardinals recalled RHP Roddery Muñoz from Triple-A Memphis.
Muñoz returns to the big leagues ahead of Saturday’s game against the Rangers to provide St. Louis with a fresh bullpen arm. The 25-year-old righty has made four relief appearances this season at the highest level.
  • STL Right Fielder #18
Cardinals placed OF Jordan Walker on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 29, with left wrist inflammation.
One of the top prospects in baseball a few years ago, Walker continues to be a colossal disappointment for fantasy purposes. The 23-year-old corner outfielder hits the shelf after struggling to a calamitous .215/.273/.310 triple-slash line with three homers and three steals over 47 games. The truly alarming part is that he’s no longer hitting for any semblance of power after launching 16 homers over 117 games as a 21-year-old rookie back in 2023. Hopefully the extended break will enable him to work on things out of the bright spotlight of the majors.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #44
Cardinals optioned RHP Gordon Graceffo to Triple-A Memphis.
Graceffo earns a ticket back to the minors after allowing four runs over an inning of work on Friday against the Rangers. The 25-year-old former prospect has pitched mostly in middle relief this season and holds a 7.47 ERA across 15 2/3 innings (nine appearances).
  • BAL 3rd Baseman #16
Orioles recalled INF Coby Mayo from Triple-A Norfolk.
The talent is there, but the results simply haven’t been for Mayo in several stints at the highest level over the past two seasons. The 23-year-old top prospect, who has hit .094 (5-for-53) in 21 games in the majors, will get another chance with Ryan Mountcastle hitting the injured list ahead of Saturday’s showdown against the White Sox with a hamstring strain. He’ll need to show something in the big leagues before fantasy managers in shallow mixed leagues can trust him with a roster spot, but he’s certainly talented enough to flip the switch.
  • BAL Center Fielder #80
Orioles selected the contract of OF Jordyn Adams from Triple-A Norfolk.
Adams was a notable prospect a couple years ago with the Angels, but he’s never been able to carve out a role at the highest level. The 25-year-old outfielder adds some extra depth to Baltimore’s bench with Ryan O’Hearn moving to first base with Ryan Mountcastle hitting the injured list with a hamstring strain.
  • BAL 1st Baseman #6
Orioles placed 1B Ryan Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
Mountcastle hits the injured list after exiting Friday’s game against the White Sox with hamstring discomfort. No word on the severity. It’ll likely be Ryan O’Hearn taking over at first base in his absence. There should be a rough timeline at some point in the coming days.
