Sheldon Neuse hit a two-run homer Thursday in his second appearance since being recalled.
With just a .229/.286/.313 line in 259 plate appearances to date, Neuse is going to need a nice showing here over the next six weeks in order to keep his spot on Oakland’s roster over the winter. There should be plenty of playing time available for him to show what he can do.

Marcus Semien has been dropped to the fifth spot in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Athletics.
This qualifies as a significant shakeup. Semien, who is hitting .141 (11-for-78) with two extra-base hits through 21 games this season, is batting lower than third for the first time since signing with the Rangers back in 2022. Meanwhile, Corey Seager isn’t hitting second for the first time in Bruce Bochy’s tenure at the helm. He’s been moved to the third spot. Texas has scored the fewest runs in baseball to this point in the year so they’re going to try a different approach to see if it helps wake up their talented core. It’ll be Josh Smith leading off and Wyatt Langford batting second on Tuesday night at hitter-friendly Sutter Health Park in Sacramento.
  • HOU 1st Baseman #9
Zach Dezenzo (thumb) is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.
Zach Dezenzo jammed his right thumb on a slide during Monday’s series opener against the Blue Jays when he finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. It’ll be veteran Christian Walker back at first base on Tuesday night. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. He’s slated to undergo imaging that will determine the severity of the issue.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Blake Snell (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday.
Snell should progress to facing hitters either later this week or early next week. The 32-year-old southpaw figures to be ready to rejoin Los Angeles’ rotation at some point in early May.
  • BOS Center Fielder #48
Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony has been dealing with a minor shoulder issue at Triple-A Worcester.
WooSox manager Chad Tracy told reporters Anthony, who hasn’t played the field since April 10, will return to the outfield on Wednesday. He also emphatically put to bed the idea of Anthony potentially moving to first base. There’s been rumblings on social media and local talk radio about the idea of moving Anthony to first base, but the Red Sox clearly have no plans to do that. The 20-year-old prodigy has put up stratospheric exit velocities and a surreal 31.9 percent barrel rate this season at the Triple-A level. His time is coming. He should arrive at Fenway Park in the coming weeks.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Luis Rengifo is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the Pirates.
It qualifies as a surprise to see Rengifo absent from the lineup with lefty Bailey Falter toeing the rubber for Pittsburgh. It’s possible he’s dealing with some sort of physical issue, but that remains to be seen. It’ll be veteran Kevin Newman at the hot corner on Tuesday night against his former team.
  • TOR Right Fielder #25
Anthony Santander is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Astros.
It appears to be a routine off day for Santander, who has split time between DH and the corner outfield spots in his Blue Jays debut. He’s off to a slow start at the plate this season, hitting .196 (18-for-92) with two homers and only eight RBI through 23 games.
  • PHI Right Fielder #16
Brandon Marsh (hamstring) is on track to start a minor league rehab assignment this week.
Marsh ran the bases on Tuesday without any issues and should be ready to get into minor league games later this week. The 27-year-old outfielder, who has been mired in a season-long slump at the plate, hit the injured list over the weekend with a right hamstring strain.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #43
Lance McCullers Jr. (elbow) threw a 33-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday.
McCullers will make a minor league rehab start this weekend for Double-A Corpus Christi. He figures to be ready to make his season debut at some point in May.
  • MIN 3rd Baseman #23
Royce Lewis (hamstring) progressed to running the bases on Tuesday.
Lewis should be ready to kick off a minor league rehab assignment at some point in the coming days. The 25-year-old is working his way back from a hamstring strain that he suffered back in mid-March. There’s a strong possibility he’s ready to return at some point in early May.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #63
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters Brandon Young is a candidate to start this week against the Tigers.
Hyde added that everything is on the table, including moving Charlie Morton to the bullpen, in an effort to turn things around. They’ve also discussed the possibility of veteran Kyle Gibson coming up later this week to take the ball. It seems highly likely that Young will be re-inserted into Baltimore’s rotation later this week to start against the Tigers, but that’s not official yet. He allowed three runs over four innings last Saturday against the Reds in his big-league debut.
