Braves designated OF Travis Demeritte for assignment.
Demeritte hit just .213/.260/.337 with three homers in 96 plate appearances over 26 games this season for the Braves earlier this season before being shipped back to the minors back in late May to make room for top prospect Michael Harris II to ascend to the majors. The 27-year-old outfielder should generate some interest on waivers.

  • BOS Starting Pitcher #80

Richard Fitts made an early exit from Saturday’s start against the White Sox with an apparent right arm injury.
Fitts was in the midst of the strongest performance of his young career when he was forced to depart the contest with apparent underarm discomfort by his right shoulder. The 25-year-old struck out five and scattered three baserunners over five scoreless frames before leaving the contest at the outset of the sixth inning. There should be an update on his status shortly. Any sort of extended absence would put some additional strain on Boston’s injury-depleted rotation.
  • PIT Center Fielder #15
Oneil Cruz (finger) remains out of the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Reds.
The positive news for fantasy managers is that Cruz hasn’t been sent to the injured list despite missing his third straight contest after being hit by a pitch earlier this week. It’s impossible to rule out a trip to the injured list at this juncture, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. It’ll be rookie Alexander Canario in center field on Saturday evening in his absence.
  • PIT Catcher #14
Joey Bart (back) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Reds.
Bart won’t be hitting the injured list yet, but he’s going to sit out Saturday’s contest after making an early exit from Friday’s game with lower back discomfort. It’ll be Henry Davis handling the catching duties on Saturday night in his place. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now.
  • PIT Catcher #32
Pirates recalled C/OF Henry Davis from Triple-A Indianapolis.
The interesting wrinkle here is that Bart hasn’t been placed on the injured list after leaving Friday’s contest with lower back discomfort. Davis gets the call to fortify Pittsburgh’s catching situation ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Reds after hitting .286 with two steals in eight games this season at the Triple-A level. The former top-overall pick from the 2021 MLB Draft will continue to get chances at the highest level, but he hasn’t blossomed into an everyday regular yet.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #55
Pirates optioned RHP Chase Shugart to Triple-A Indianapolis.
Shugart has been shipped back to the minors to make room for catcher Henry Davis ahead of Saturday’s game against the Reds.
  • PHI Right Fielder #8
Nick Castellanos went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in the Phillies’ 4-1 defeat of the Cardinals on Saturday.
Victor Scott II nearly made an outstanding catch on the double that produced both runs, but it went off his glove. Castellanos is off to a .308/.357/.519 start, and his fantasy value is, at least temporarily, up a tad with Alec Bohm getting dropped in the Philadelphia lineup.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #61
Cristopher Sánchez held the Cardinals to one run in 6 1/3 innings and picked up a victory on Saturday.
The Phillies are 3-0 with Sánchez on the mound, but this is the first time the left-hander was credited with the win. He settled for three strikeouts today, but he has a 3.12 ERA and a 19/5 K/BB in 17 1/3 innings on the season. He’s due to face the Giants next.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #39
Miles Mikolas surrendered three runs in five innings Saturday in a loss to the Phillies.
Mikolas recorded six strikeouts, which was two more than he had in his first two starts combined. He still dropped to 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA ahead of his next start versus the Mets.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #4
Ketel Marte (hamstring) resumed baseball activities on Friday
Marte remains several weeks away from returning from a left hamstring strain that sent him to the injured list last weekend, but he’s already progressed to taking ground balls and swinging in the batting cage. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters earlier this week that Marte is unlikely to return until late April or early May, even in a best-case scenario.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #30
Kyle Wright (shoulder) threw two innings earlier this week in an extended spring training game in Arizona.
Strong early-season performances by Kris Bubic and Michael Lorenzen have reduced the urgency for Kansas City to get Wright back up to full speed quickly. The 29-year-old righty will continue ramping up in Arizona and should be an option for Kansas City’s pitching staff at some point next month, if not sooner.
