Jonathan Lucroy has retired from professional baseball.
Lucroy hasn’t played in the majors this season and appeared in just seven games last year between the Braves and Nationals. The 36-year-old two-time All-Star steps away after a 12-year career that included stops with the Brewers, Rangers, Rockies, Braves, Red Sox, Athletics, Angels, Cubs and Nationals.

Sonny Gray shut out the Tigers for six innings and struck out 10 in the Cardinals’ 11-4 rout Monday.
Gray followed up his worst start of the year with arguably his best, as he set a new season-high in strikeouts and allowed just three hits to the team with the best record in baseball. He improved to 5-1 with a 4.02 ERA ahead of his start against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Cubs recall top prospect Shaw back to majors
Eric Samulski says Matt Shaw is worth picking up in all fantasy baseball league formats after the third baseman has been recalled to the Chicago Cubs from Triple-A Iowa.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #54
Keider Montero gave up five runs in 5 2/3 innings as a bulk guy Monday against the Cardinals.
Montero was forced to enter during the first after Sean Guenther struggled as an opener. He limited the damage that inning, but he faltered afterwards in what turned out to be an 11-4 loss. Montero now has a 5.28 ERA over 30 2/3 innings in his six appearances this season. He’ll likely head back to Triple-A after with Casey Mize set to return.
  • STL Left Fielder #33
Brendan Donovan finished three hits, including a double, and two runs scored against the Tigers on Monday.
Donovan has seven hits the last two days and is back up to sixth in the majors with his .337 average. He’s also tied for third with 16 doubles. He’s not strong enough in homers or steals to be a real force in fantasy leagues, but he should manage sufficient all-around production to remain useful in mixed leagues the rest of the way.
  • STL Catcher #48
Iván Herrera stayed hot Monday by going 2-for-4 with two RBI against the Tigers.
Herrera’s 10 games since coming off the IL have seen him DH eight times, catch once and sit once. That’s probably not the best mix for his post-2025 fantasy value, but it’s working great for now. In the nine games before he got hurt last month, he caught six times and sat three times.
  • ARI Left Fielder #12
Lourdes Gurriel hit a two-run homer in a blowout win for the Diamondbacks over the Dodgers on Monday.
Gurriel hammered a two-run shot to score Corbin Carroll and himself and give the Diamondbacks a 5-0 lead. He’s now up to 37 RBI on the season to go with eight homers, and it puts him on pace to reach the 100-RBI mark for the first time in his career. Those numbers are solid, but the .227 average and .271 on-base percentage certainly leave a bit to be desired.
  • ARI Shortstop #2
Geraldo Perdomo homered and drove in three runs in a win for the Diamondbacks on Monday over the Dodgers.
Perdomo extended the D-Backs’ lead to 9-3 with a two-run homer off Matt Sauer. He also drove in a run with a sac fly in the second. The 25-year-old is now hitting .302/.403/.488 in what has been a breakout campaign for the former top prospect. Breakout may be a bit of an understatement.
  • LAD Designated Hitter #17
Shohei Ohtani hit a solo homer in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Ohtani went the opposite way in the seventh inning for his 17th homer of the season. It was the only hit of the game for the defending MVP, but he’s still raking to the tune of .312/.406/.672 with 31 RBI. Ohtani also recently completed a 50-pitch bullpen session, just to remind you that he’s way more talented than anyone else on this planet.
  • LAD Right Fielder #50
Mookie Betts hit a pair of solo homers, but the Dodgers fell 9-5 to the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Betts took Brandon Pfaadt deep twice; once in the fourth and another in the sixth. The 32-year-old has now picked up eight homers on the season while driving in 30 runs. It wasn’t enough to help the Dodgers to a win, but it still counts just the same in fantasy box scores.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #96
Landon Knack allowed four runs in five innings of relief against the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Knack came in after Jack Dreyer worked as an opener, and Dreyer gets the loss as he gave up three runs in his two innings. Knack wasn’t much better, as he gave up six hits — two of them homers — with two walks in another ineffective outing for the 27-year-old hurler. Knack is scheduled to face the Mets over the weekend, but fantasy managers should explore other options for that contest.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #32
Brandon Pfaadt went six innings while allowing three runs to get a win Monday against the Dodgers.
Pfaadt was able to hold the Dodgers to just the three runs despite not picking up a single strikeout and giving up 10 balls in play that qualified as hard hits. All three hits he gave up were homers, but all of them were of the solo variety. Maybe not a dominant effort from Pfaadt, but still a solid result that sees his ERA bump up slightly to 3.81. He’ll face off against the Cardinals over the weekend.
