  • CIN Third Baseman
Reds signed first-round selection INF Cam Collier.
Collier, who won’t tun 18 years old until November, is one of the youngest players in the entire draft class. He’s reportedly agreed to a $5 million bonus, which is well above-slot ($3.659 million) for the 18th overall selection in the 2022 MLB Draft. He projects as a potential power-hitting corner infielder, but is obviously a long way from the majors.

  • MIL Third Baseman #63
Brewers recalled INF Vinny Capra from Triple-A Nashville.
With Joey Ortiz (neck) heading to the injured list, Capra will get an opportunity to function as a reserve infielder for the big-league club. The 27-year-old was hitting .246/.333/.350 with four homers, 25 RBI and five stolen bases in 297 plate appearances at Triple-A Nashville. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.
  • MIL Third Baseman #3
Brewers placed INF Joey Ortiz on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 2, with neck inflammation.
Ortiz has been battling the neck stiffness for a while and finally returned to action on Monday after missing three games, but it sounds like that only aggravated the issue further. Vinny Capra was recalled from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move to take his place on the active roster.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo (head) returned to the Mets’ starting lineup on Wednesday.
Nimmo was held out of the team’s starting lineup each of the previous two games after suffering a forehead laceration when he fell in his hotel room on Sunday. He did appear off the bench in Tuesday’s game though and is right back out there in left field and batting second against Mitchell Parker and the Nationals on Wednesday evening in Washington.
  • ATL Shortstop #11
Orlando Arcia (tooth) remains out of the Braves’ starting lineup for Wednesday’s tilt against the Giants.
Arcia had his abscessed tooth extracted on Tuesday but is still dealing with an infection and wasn’t quite ready to go on Wednesday. Zack Short will draw another start in his place at shortstop and will bat ninth against Jordan Hicks and the Giants on Wednesday evening in Atlanta.
  • MIN Relief Pitcher #61
Twins transferred RHP Brock Stewart to the 60-day injured list.
There haven’t been any setbacks in the 32-year-old hurler’s recovery from shoulder tendinitis, this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the promotion of Brooks Lee on Wednesday. Stewart is tentatively scheduled to rejoin the Twins’ bullpen before the end of July.
  • MIN Shortstop #80
Twins selected the contract of INF Brooks Lee from Triple-A St. Paul.
With Royce Lewis (groin) heading back to the injured list, it’ll give Lee an opportunity to show what he can do at the big -league level for the first time. The 23-year-old infielder has hit .350/.412/.585 with seven homers, 26 RBI, two stolen bases and an 18/13 K/BB ratio over 136 plate appearances across three minor league levels this season. Lee will start at third base and bat eighth in his big-league debut against the Tigers on Wednesday night. He’s worth an immediate look in most mixed leagues.
  • MIN Third Baseman #23
Twins placed INF Royce Lewis on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain.
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old superstar heads back to the injured list where he has spent far too much time over the past three seasons. Twins’ general manager Derek Falvey told reporters on Wednesday that Lewis will be sidelined at least through the All-Star break and will then be re-evaluated. Top prospect Brooks Lee had his contract selected from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move on Wednesday and he should see plenty of action while Lewis is shelved.
  • WAS Catcher #15
Nationals recalled C Riley Adams from Triple-A Rochester.
The 28-year-old backstop has already appeared in 25 games for the Nationals this season, slashing .215/.281/.354 with a pair of homers and six RBI in 89 plate appearances. It’s not much, but it’s more production than they were getting from Drew Millas, which is why the team most likely made the switch again. He’ll function as the primary backup behind Keibert Ruiz for the time being.
  • WAS Catcher #81
Nationals optioned C Drew Millas to Triple-A Rochester.
Once again, he and Riley Adams will swap places as the primary backup behind Keibert Ruiz. Milas, 26, has really struggled at the dish in his time with the Nationals, slashing a woeful .167/.219/.300 with one homer, one RBI and an 8/2 K/BB ratio over 32 plate appearances.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #20
Rockies recalled RHP Peter Lambert from Triple-A Albuquerque.
He’ll take the place of Riley Pint in the Rockies’ bullpen after Pint was optioned to Triple-A on Wednesday. Lambert has struggled in his chances with the big-league club this season, registering a troublesome 6.47 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and a 26/18 K/BB ratio over 32 innings in 15 appearances (three starts). He’ll continue to give them length in a depleted Rockies’ bullpen.
