Marlins LHP prospect Dax Fulton hurled 5 2/3 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts on Sunday for HIgh-A Beloit.
Fulton allowed four hits and issued a pair of walks. Missing bats has not been an issue for the 2020 second-round pick, as he’s up to 101 strikeouts in his 77 innings with the Sky Carp. Limiting the production of those who don’t whiff has been a problem, however, as he’s walked 27 and registers a 4.56 ERA in his 16 starts. The ability to miss bats is legit, as Fulton has a plus fastball/curve combination and also shows the makings of a solid change. The command needs work, but that’s true about most 20-year-olds, especially 6-foot-7 ones. Fulton has significant upside, but there’s a wide variety of potential outcomes in his profile.

Connor Norby hit a three-run homer while going 3-for-5 in a win over the Angels on Saturday.
Norby gave the Marlins some cushion by extending their lead to 6-1 with a three-run blast. The rookie 24-year-old has homered three times while driving in 15 runs while hitting a very respectable .288/.331/.450 over his 110 at-bats. He appears to have a very bright future at the hot corner.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.

Janson Junk worked the last five innings to pick up a save against the Angels on Saturday in a 6-2 win for the Marlins.
Ah, the old five-inning save. Junk allowed one run in his five innings of work, and he struck out six. You don’t see too many of these, and you won’t in the future. Junk may be asked to make a start for the Marlins over the coming weeks, but is also a candidate to head back down to Triple-A to provide a fresh arm in the bullpen. Still, a five-inning save. Kinda cool.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #59
José Soriano allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings while being credited with a loss to the Marlins on Saturday.
The Angels’ eight game winning streak is no more. Soriano allowed seven hits in the loss while walking three and picking up just a single strikeout in the contest. The 26-year-old still possesses a relatively solid 3.73 ERA on the season, and he’ll get a chance to bounce back next weekend against the Guardians in Cleveland.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #47
Cal Quantrill went 3 1/3 innings and allowed one run against the Angels on Saturday.
Quantrill was pulled after throwing just 46 pitches, which is a little weird. he allowed three hits and no walks, and he was able to strike out two before exiting. This didn’t appear to be injury related, so maybe the Marlins just didn’t trust Quantrill and his 6.09 ERA to face the Angels lineup another time through the order. Huh. He’s scheduled to face the Giants on Friday.
  • TEX Center Fielder #76
Daniel Álvarez-Montes of EL Extrabase reports that the Rangers are promoting outfield prospect Alejandro Osuna before Sunday’s game against the White Sox.
Osuna will need to be added to the 40-man roster in order for the promotion to happen. The 22-year-old is one of the top hitting prospects in the Texas system, and is slashing .279/.386/.414 with two homers and nine stolen bases in his time with Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. Osuna offers some long-term upside because of his speed and potential hit tool, but would be a risky fantasy add in the majority of redraft formats.

Aaron Nola (ankle) is still dealing with soreness in his right ankle.
“No bullpen today,” Phillies manager Rich Thomson said in regards to Nola. “He was still a little sore today. It’s day by day. We’ll see if he’s OK tomorrow,” The team was hopeful he could throw a bullpen before one of the three games against the A’s, but it doesn’t appear that’s likely to happen now. Nola seems very unlikely to return to the Philadelphia rotation before the end of May, and this could push into the middle of June.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #13
Junior Caminero hit a three-run homer in the first inning Saturday, and the Rays made it stand up in a 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays.
With one out in the first, Jose Lowe walked, Brandon Lowe singled and Caminero took a pitch 387 feet out to left-center. That Rays had just one hit and one walk over the remainder of the contest, but the Jays never caught up. The homer was Caminero’s ninth, and it gave him his first RBI in 11 days. He’s hit just .208/.232/.358 over his last 27 games, but things still figure to get better here.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #11
Shane Baz held the Blue Jays to one run in 5 2/3 innings in a win Saturday.
The lone run came on Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s homer in the sixth. Baz allowed four hits, walked three and struck out four. He’s totaled 16 strikeouts and seven homers allowed in 25 1/3 innings this month, which just isn’t very encouraging. Still, he got a win tonight, his first since Apr. 25.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #29
Pete Fairbanks worked around two walks in a hitless ninth to pick up his 10th save on Saturday.
We figured the Rays would hold the injury-prone Fairbanks out tonight after he worked three of the previous four days, but we were incorrect. It seems like they’re playing with fire here, given that, at 22 innings, Fairbanks is already pretty much halfway to his career high of 45 1/3. Fairbanks will sit Sunday, which could open the door for Edwin Uceta to pick up a save.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #17
José Berríos pitched six innings and allowed three runs Saturday in a loss to the Rays.
Berríos hasn’t been dominant at any point, but this is his sixth quality start to go along with a pair of other nice outings in which he didn’t quite complete six innings. He should have at least four or five wins. Instead, due to a lack of offense and the bullpen blowing leads for him on three occasions, he’s 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA. He’ll face the A’s next.
