Brewers optioned RHP Luke Barker to Triple-A Nashville.
Barker has allowed five runs on seven hits, including a pair of home runs, with a 3/0 K/BB ratio across four innings (three appearances) this season at the major-league level. The 30-year-old rookie right-hander will head back to the minors until the Brewers need some extra relief depth.

Sawyer Gipson-Long (elbow, hip) is likely to be activated from the injured list to start this week against the White Sox.
The most likely landing spot is Tuesday in Chicago as the Tigers attempt to replace top prospect Jackson Jobe, who has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 flexor strain and is facing a multi-week absence. Gipson-Long showed some real promise back in 2023 when he broke into the majors and represents a bit of a wild card at this point after missing last year recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s a worthwhile lottery ticket for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues, especially in a tasty matchup against the White Sox as part of a potential two-start week.
Palencia 'asserts himself' as Cubs closer
Daniel Palencia has four saves in his last four appearances, and James Schiano examines how the 25-year-old flamethrower has officially asserted himself as the Chicago Cubs closer moving forward.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #19
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo confirmed late Saturday that Ryne Nelson is moving back to the bullpen.
Nelson was summoned to gobble up four innings on Saturday against the Nationals after starter Brandon Pfaadt’s unexpected implosion led to his removal without recording a single out. The 27-year-old righty was going to have to move back eventually with veteran lefty Eduardo Rodriguez (shoulder) poised to return from the injured list in the near future. It’s a disappointing development for fantasy managers since Nelson has pitched extremely well when he’s been given a chance.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #50
Diamondbacks signed RHP Tayler Scott to a minor league contract.
Scott fortifies Arizona’s relief depth at Triple-A Reno just a few days after being cut loose by the Astros. The 33-year-old journeyman posted an underwhelming 5.40 ERA across 16 2/3 innings (17 appearances) this season in Houston. He’ll likely factor into the Diamondbacks’ middle relief mix at some point this summer.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #55
Braves recalled RHP Bryce Elder from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Elder draws the starting assignment for Sunday’s series finale at Fenway Park against the Red Sox and figures to stick around for a while with top prospect AJ Smith-Shawver done for the season with a UCL tear in his elbow. The 26-year-old righty has compiled a respectable 4.50 ERA (4.90 FIP) across 44 innings (eight starts) this season at the highest level.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #46
Braves optioned LHP Dylan Dodd to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Dodd returns to the minors to make room for Bryce Elder to come up and take the ball for Sunday’s series finale at Fenway Park. The 26-year-old lefty has made two relief appearances this season for Atlanta.
  • BOS Center Fielder #48
Red Sox OF prospect Roman Anthony went 1-for-4 with a walk on Saturday for Triple-A Worcester.
The start of a three-game series at Fenway Park ahead of a series against the Yankees in New York feels like potentially the ideal spot for the Red Sox to finally break Anthony into the majors. We’re not holding our breath, but Saturday’s shutout loss at the hands of Atlanta might be the straw that breaks the camel’s metaphorical back in Boston’s front office. The 21-year-old top prospect is hitting .305 with a stratospheric .935 OPS across 52 games this season at the Triple-A level. His athleticism paired with above-average plate skills and ability to consistently generate hard contact are what separates him from nearly every other prospect in the game right now. He should be rostered in all fantasy formats.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #81
Reds RHP prospect Chase Burns struck out four over six shutout innings on Saturday for Double-A Chattanooga.
Burns allowed just three baserunners and needed just 82 pitches to navigate six frames in the longest start of his professional debut. The hard-throwing 22-year-old, who was the second-overall pick in last year’s MLB Draft, has looked like one of the top handful of pitching prospects in the sport over the last few weeks, recording a sparkling 1.54 ERA and 49/4 K/BB ratio across 35 innings (seven starts) at the Double-A level. He’s unlikely to reach the majors this season, but based on his current trajectory, he’s the odds-on favorite to finish the year as the top pitching prospect left in the minors.
  • PIT Shortstop #85
Pirates SS/OF prospect Konnor Griffin went 3-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases on Saturday for Low-A Bradenton.
Griffin notched his eighth three-hit performance of the season on Saturday evening as his meteoric rise into one of the top prospects in the entire fantasy landscape continues without showing any signs of slowing down. The 19-year-old prodigy, who was the ninth-overall pick in last year’s MLB Draft, leads the Florida State League in hits (57) and slugging percentage (.516) through 44 games to kick off his professional debut. He projects as a five-category impact fantasy contributor down the road, but he’s obviously several hyperspace jumps away from reaching the big leagues.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher
Blue Jays RHP prospect Trey Yesavage recorded five strikeouts over 4 1/3 hitless innings on Saturday for High-A Vancouver.
Yesavage has looked like one of the top pitching prospects in baseball during his professional debut after being selected 20th overall in last year’s MLB Draft. The 21-year-old has recorded a microscopic 1.46 ERA and 24/10 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings (three starts) since being promoted to High-A Vancouver a couple weeks ago. He boasts a 79/18 K/BB ratio over 45 2/3 innings overall this season in the lower minors. He’s a well-known commodity in dynasty formats, but he’s going to be mainstream fantasy radar screens by the end of the year.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #34
Michael Soroka allowed four runs while working 5 1/3 innings to get a win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
Soroka was handed a 10-0 lead before he threw a single pitch, so all he had to do was avoid a disaster to pick up a win. He wasn’t terribly effective, but disaster averted. The 27-year-old allowed six hits with a walk, and he fanned three before leaving after 94 pitches. Soroka still has an ugly 5.81 ERA, and fantasy managers should be able to find a better option for their lineup for his scheduled start Thursday against the Rangers.
