Reds sent INF/OF JT Riddle outright to Triple-A Louisville.
Riddle was designated for assignment on Tuesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The versatile 30-year-old owns a rough .223/.261/.354 batting line in 797 career major league plate appearances.

Yankees optioned Yerry De Los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yankees desperately needed to add a fresh arm to their bullpen after Saturday’s debacle against the Dodgers and De Los Santos was an easy call after working in back-to-back games since he wasn’t going to be available on Sunday evening. The 27-year-old hurler has done a decent job for the Yankees this season, registering a 3.00 ERA, a troublesome 1.92 WHIP and a 9/6 K/BB ratio over 12 innings in his first 10 appearances.
Palencia 'asserts himself' as Cubs closer
Daniel Palencia has four saves in his last four appearances, and James Schiano examines how the 25-year-old flamethrower has officially asserted himself as the Chicago Cubs closer moving forward.

Yankees selected the contract of RHP Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The 38-year-old hurler will return to provide the Yankees with a fresh arm that’s capable of working multiple innings for Sunday night’s showdown against the Dodgers after their bullpen was depleted on Saturday. Carrasco holds a 5.91 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and a 25/10 K/BB ratio over 32 innings with the Yankees on the season.
  • NYM 1st Baseman #20
Pete Alonso hit a three-run homer Sunday in the Mets’ 5-3 victory over the Rockies.
A three-game sweep for the Mets, who got all of their runs on homers from Alonso, Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto today. Alonso had a rough two weeks in the middle of last month, but he’s now hit in eight straight games, collecting homers in three of them.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #35
Clay Holmes allowed three runs and three hits over seven innings in a defeat of the Rockies on Sunday.
Holmes gave up a solo homer to Orlando Arcia in the third and then a hit by a pitch and a two-run homer to Tyler Freeman in the fifth. Only one other batter reached against him, and the runner then was erased on a double play. Holmes is keeping it together nicely even as his home run luck has disappeared. After going without allowing a homer in his first seven starts, he’s given up seven in the last five. Still, he has a 3.34 ERA during the current stretch anyway. He’s 6-3 with a 3.07 ERA overall, and he’s due to pitch in Coors against the Rockies next time out.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Edwin Díaz struck out three of the four batters he faced for his 13th save Sunday against the Rockies.
Díaz has struck out 10 of the 15 batters he’s faced in his last four appearances. The single he gave up to Sam Hilliard today was the first hit he’d allowed since May 5. He pitched 9 1/3 hitless innings in his previous nine appearances.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #45
Although he struck out eight, Carson Palmquist gave up four runs over 4 2/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Mets.
Palmquist struck out a total of six batters over 13 1/3 innings in his first three major league starts, so that’s a big improvement, at least. He’s actually the first Rockies pitcher to fan eight batters in a game this season. Palmquist took the loss, so he’s now 0-4 with an 8.50 ERA. He’s due to face the Mets again, this time at Coors, next weekend.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo came off the bench Sunday to play three innings in left field and flew out in his lone at-bat.
Nimmo experienced calf cramping Saturday, which likely had something to do with him being out of the starting lineup today. He should be back in there Monday against the Dodgers.
  • COL Center Fielder #2
Making a rare start against a righty, Tyler Freeman went 2-for-3 and hit a two-run homer off Clay Holmes against the Mets on Sunday.
Treated as a platoon guy recently, Freeman had made just one other start against a righty since coming off the IL on May 16. Oddly enough, in the 13 games before he got hurt in April, he started four times in nine games against righties and none of the four times the Rockies faced lefties. Throughout all of it, it’s become clear that the late March trade with the Guardians was less about acquiring Freeman and more about moving on from Nolan Jones. We’re not sure Freeman is a regular, either, but he is more interesting than most of the guys on Colorado’s roster. Perhaps the showing today will earn him some extra time for a bit.
  • HOU Shortstop #3
Jeremy Pena went 2-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base against the Rays on Sunday.
The stolen base was Pena’s 10th of the year. The 27-year-old shortstop raised his average to .309 with his two hits. Pena has been excellent since moving into the leadoff spot for the Astros. In the first inning, he reached on an error and ended up scoring the only run of the game on a Christian Walker RBI single. Pena has nine home runs, an .853 OPS and 30 RBI on the season.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #45
Taj Bradley allowed one unearned run in seven innings and took the loss against the Astros on Sunday.
Bradley allowed three hits, walked two and struck out 10. The only run of the game came in the first inning when Jeremy Pena reached on an error by Junior Caminero and later came around to score. While there was a lot of contact in the first inning with the Astros putting the first five pitches of the game in play, Bradley settled in and racked up 10 strikeouts without allowing another run. It was a hard-luck loss to say the least. Bradley will take a 4-5 record and 3.95 ERA into his next start against the Marlins at home next weekend.
