White Sox designated OF Micker Adolfo for assignment.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster. It’s a tough pill to swallow for Adolfo, who actually had himself a nice spring. Perhaps he’ll draw interest elsewhere.

Kevin Gausman allowed three hits and zero runs with nine strikeouts and zero walks over seven innings to earn the win in a 14-0 rout over the Padres on Wednesday.
This was vintage Gausman. He artfully mixed his patented splitter and fastball leaving the Padres seemingly clueless as to which of those two pitches were coming next. His command of that fastball was especially good and that helped his splitter generate 13 swings-and-misses, most which came on ugly swings. It’s nice to see the top-end for Gausman is still here while understanding his start-to-start production is a bit more erratic than it was during his heyday. He’s scheduled for a two-start week coming up against the Rangers and Athletics.
What Crews' MRI means for Hassell III's outlook
With Dylan Crews set to undergo an MRI after exiting Tuesday's game, Eric Samulski assesses whether fantasy managers should rush to roster former top prospect Robert Hassell III after his promotion.
  • TOR Center Fielder #38
Nathan Lukes went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs on Wednesday against the Padres.
Believe it or not, this game was scoreless in the fifth inning before Lukes’ go-ahead home run against Randy Vásquez. Then, the floodgates opened and Toronto put up 12 runs between the seventh and eighth innings. Lukes and Jonatan Clase are in a battle for playing time in the corner outfield while Andrés Giménez is out, Ernie Clement is replacing him at second base, and Addison Barger – who had two hits and five hard-hit balls in this game – filling the void at third. Anthony Santander also left this game early with hip inflammation after missing a handful of games with a shoulder injury. It will be interesting to see how the playing time works out among this group when the Blue Jays are at full health.
  • SD 2nd Baseman #4
Luis Arraez went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Arraez still managed to get his on a night where the Padres were blanked by Kevin Gausman. His average jumped back over .300 for the first time in two weeks and somehow that triple was his third in 18 games. He remains an incredible source of batting average without offering much else.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #98
Randy Vásquez allowed four hits and two runs with four strikeouts and zero walks across 4 2/3 innings in a loss against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Vásquez is amazing at mixing his deep arsenal just enough to avoid significant damage. Overall, he threw all five of his pitches at least 11% of the time in this one and was pitching a shutout until Nathan Lukes smacked a hanging sweeper for a two-run homer. That was the extent of the damage and while he misses very few bats – just three whiffs in this start – he now has an excellent 3.49 ERA on the season. He’s lined up for an enticing two-start week coming up against the Marlins and Pirates.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher #63
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said late Wednesday that Fernando Cruz is dealing with a shoulder issue.
Cruz hasn’t pitched since Sunday’s 26-pitch outing due to an unspecified shoulder ailment. It doesn’t sound like he’s in danger of requiring a trip to the injured list since imaging didn’t reveal anything serious. However, the Yankees have made an effort to stay away from him in recent days. The 35-year-old righty has recorded a stellar 2.66 ERA and 35/8 K/BB ratio across 23 2/3 innings (21 appearances) this season.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #7
Brett Baty went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base in a 5-1 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.
Baty drew a rare start against a left-handed pitcher with Garrett Crochet on the mound and it paid huge dividends for the Mets. His run-scoring single in the second inning felt like the Mets’ first hit with a runner in scoring position in months. Then, he came through again in the clutch to drive in the go ahead run during the seventh. He was seen screaming and hyping up his dugout after that single, both releasing his own and the Mets’ demons for finally coming through in a clutch situation. It’s telling that he was in the lineup against Crochet and the Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza cited his strong defense as the key reason why. There might be a changing of the guard at third base in New York.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #38
Tylor Megill allowed four hits and one run with one walk and tied a career-high with 10 strikeouts across 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision on Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Megill might’ve felt the heat after a handful of poor starts and with the Mets many injured pitchers due back soon. He responded to that pressure with a dominant first few innings. He struck out four batters through two and importantly for Megill, 21 of his 30 pitches through those first two innings were strikes. His strikeout total rose to nine after four innings and the Red Sox struggled to generate any base runners. Then, he ran into trouble during the fifth after an infield hit, hit-by-pitch, two walks, and a sacrifice fly which forced him from the game. Still, this start was a huge step in the right direction and was spurred by him being more aggressive in the zone with his fastball. His next start is scheduled to come Tuesday against the White Sox.
  • BOS Center Fielder #16
Jarren Duran went 1-for-3 with a RBI on Wednesday against the Mets.
The Red Sox offense was mostly stifled by Tylor Megill and the Mets’ bullpen in this one with Duran’s sacrifice fly generating their only run. While he’s had a bit of a disappointing start to the season with just three home runs and a .727 OPS, he’s near the top of the league with 12 stolen bases.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #35
Garrett Crochet allowed five hits and one run with one walk and five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday.
Crochet battled through a cold night at Fenway Park without his best stuff to still limit the Mets to just one run. He did manage to wriggle out of plenty of jams though as the Mets shortcomings with runners in scoring position continued. Still, he was up over 40 pitches through two innings and couldn’t give his normal length. He’s lined up for a two-start week coming up next against the Brewers and Braves.
  • PHI 3rd Baseman #37
Weston Wilson was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Rockies with a migraine.
Wilson was 0-for-1 with a walk before being replaced by Brandon Marsh in left field to open the bottom of the fourth inning. The versatile 30-year-old has played sparingly this season, mostly against left-handed starters.
