Nationals designated RHP Gabe Klobosits for assignment.
Klobosits has been removed from Washington’s 40-man roster and placed on waivers with the hope that another team will scoop him up. The 26-year-old righty made 11 unremarkable relief appearances last year with the Nationals.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI on Friday night as the Diamondbacks walloped the Brewers 16-9 in Cactus League play.
Gurriel hit the first of two two-run blasts off of Freddy Peralta in the opening inning on Friday. He then added a run-scoring single in the third inning and chipped in another RBI knock in the fifth. The 31-year-old outfielder has had a solid spring at the dish, hitting .324 (12-for-37) with a homer, nine RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

Corbin Burnes was crushed by the Brewers in his final Cactus League start on Friday night, surrendering eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in only 2 2/3 innings.
Woof. Alright, get it all out of your system now before the games start counting. Burnes did manage to record five of his seven total outs via the strikeout and didn’t walk a batter, for whatever that’s worth. He entered the start with a 1.35 ERA for the spring season and winds up finishing with an abysmal 5.06 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and a 22/2 K/BB ratio over 16 frames. Fantasy managers should keep the faith, Burnes is going to be just fine.
  • MIL Catcher #24
William Contreras went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI on Friday as the Brewers dropped a slugfest to the Diamondbacks.
The Brewers made life difficult on former ace Corbin Burnes on Friday, scoring eight runs off of him in the first four innings. Contreras contributed to that fun with an RBI double in the opening inning and a run-scoring single in the second. With his four-hit night, the game’s top backstop is now hitting .455 (15-for-33) with a pair of homers, nine RBI and a stolen base so far this spring.

Freddy Peralta was absolutely annihilated in his final start of the spring against the Diamondbacks on Friday, allowing 10 runs on eight hits and four walks in just 3 1/3 innings.
Yikes. On the plus side, at least Peralta struck out five batters in the abysmal performance. He gave up four runs in the opening inning on a pair of two-run homers from Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Gabriel Moreno. He then settled in and put up zeroes for two innings before the D’Backs hung another four on him in the fourth. They tacked on another pair in the fifth before he mercifully called it a night. This start obviously skews his entire spring numbers as he finishes with an 8.56 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and a 16/5 K/BB ratio over his 13 2/3 innings. He remains a strong source of strikeouts for fantasy purposes as a fringe top 30 starting pitcher.
  • KC Left Fielder #21
Royals acquired 1B/OF Mark Canha from the Brewers for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Canha wasn’t going to earn a bench spot on the Brewers’ Opening Day roster, so they flipped him to the Royals where he’s likely to function in a short-side platoon role and can mash left-handed pitching. It’s still unlikely that Canha sees enough playing time to gain any relevancy from a fantasy perspective — especially now that he’s playing half of his games in Kansas City.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #38
Orioles placed RHP Kyle Bradish on the 60-day injured list.
This was nothing more than a procedural move to free up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for the addition of Kyle Gibson on Friday. Bradish is still in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery and isn’t expected to be ready to return until July at the earliest.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #44
Orioles signed RHP Kyle Gibson to a one-year, $5.25 million contract.
The 37-year-old right-hander returns to the Orioles where he won a career-high 15 games during the 2023 season. It’s probably going to take him at least a couple of weeks to get up to speed, but once he’s ready to go Gibson will grab a spot in the Orioles’ rotation. It’s not the high-end addition that the O’s desperately needed to make, but Gibson does add depth to the club’s starting rotation.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #61
    Rangers released RHP Hunter Strickland.
Strickland had an upcoming out-out clause in his minor league deal that he was likely to use anyways and he wasn’t going to make the Opening Day roster, so this move makes sense for both parties. He’s now free to explore opportunities elsewhere.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #30
    Rangers released RHP Jesse Chavez.
The 41-year-old hurler was informed that he wasn’t going to crack the team’s Opening Day bullpen, so they’re giving him an opportunity to latch on elsewhere if he so chooses. Chavez struggled badly in Cactus League action, posting a 9.45 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and a 6/4 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings.
  • MIA Shortstop #9
Xavier Edwards went 1-for-3 with a single, walk, run scored and a stolen base as the Marlins bested the Nationals 6-0 in Grapefruit League play on Friday night.
Edwards singled off of Michael Soroka, swiped second base and scored on a two-run single by Eric Wagaman as part of the Marlins’ six-run uprising in the fifth inning on Friday. Edwards has picked up right where he left off last season this spring, hitting .319 (15-for-47) with nine RBI and three stolen bases.
