  • TB Starting Pitcher #65
Rays optioned LHP Brendan McKay, INF Jonathan Aranda, RHP Calvin Faucher, and C’s René Pinto and Ford Proctor to Triple-A Durham; reassigned LHP Zack Erwin and RHP’s Adrian De Horta, David Hess, David McKay and Aaron Slegers to minor league camp.
The first cuts from Rays’ spring training trim their big-league camp roster to 42 players. McKay, who is recovering from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery, is the most notable of the inclusions. Hess and Slegers are the most likely relievers to make an impact this season in Tampa Bay.

  • CHC Relief Pitcher #38
Cubs optioned RHP Trey Wingenter to Triple-A Iowa.
Wingenter has allowed nine runs in five appearances with the Red Sox and Cubs this year. He has a 2.98 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings at Triple-A this season.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #48
Cubs recalled RHP Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa.
Palencia has a 7.11 ERA in nine appearances for the Cubs this year. He has a 4.97 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 66 strikeouts in 38 innings at Triple-A. He’s not an option in fantasy at the moment.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #64
Royals recalled RHP Steven Cruz from Triple-A Omaha.
Cruz was recalled as the corresponding move with James McArthur going on the injured list. Cruz hasn’t allowed a run or a baserunner in three appearances for the Royals this year. He has a 3.33 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 51 1/3 innings at Triple-A.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #66
Royals placed RHP James McArthur on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow sprain.
McArthur left Monday night’s game against the Tigers with right elbow tightness. He appeared to be injured on a play where he covered first base and left after Salvador Perez called for the training staff during the next at-bat. It’s unclear how severe the injury might be. McArthur will miss the rest of the regular season and potentially the playoffs.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #21
Hunter Greene (elbow) threw three simulated game Tuesday.
Greene threw 20 pitches each in the first two innings, and another 15 in the third. The right-hander told reporters he felt “great” after the outing. Greene has a chance to make a start — maybe two depending on when he returns — with Cincinnati before the year ends, but obviously much of that will be determined by how he feels in the coming days.
  • BAL Shortstop #29
Ramón Urías ran the bases before Tuesday’s game against the Giants.
Urías is working his way back from a sprained ankle that has sidelined the 30-year-old since the start of September. It sounds like he’s not far away from being activated, and he likely will get some starts around the infield over the final week-plus when he does get back on the field.
  • SF Shortstop #49
Tyler Fitzgerald (back) told reporters Tuesday he’ll be in the lineup against the Orioles.
Fitzgerald told reporters that his back has “improved” and that he’ll be good to go for the beginning of a three-game set against the Orioles on Tuesday. Fitzgerald has been one of the better breakout stories of the year, and should be a regular fixture in San Francisco lineups to begin 2025, as well.
  • TB Third Baseman #24
Christopher Morel (Achilles) is hitting fifth and playing left field against he Red Sox on Tuesday.
Morel missed two games while dealing with the Achilles issue, but the 25-year-old is ready to role against Nick Pivetta and the Boston pitching staff.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #22
Sandy Alcantara is expected to face hitters in a live BP session according to Isaac Azout of the Miami Herald.
Alcantara is currently rehabbing from Tommy John surgery that he underwent last October. The 29-year-old told reporters late in August that his preference would be to be able to pitch in a game this year, and while that can’t completely be ruled out, it’s all but assured he’ll make his return to the bump in 2025.
  • PHI Second Baseman #19
Phillies optioned INF Buddy Kennedy to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Kennedy is booted off the active roster with Edmundo Sosa activated off of the 10-day injured list.
