Palka possesses gargantuan over-the-fence pop, but hasn’t been able to make contact consistently enough to even carve out a part-time role in the majors in recent years. The 30-year-old slugger, who launched 27 round-trippers with the White Sox back in 2018, spent the entire 2021 campaign at Triple-A Rochester with the Nationals where he slashed a robust .256/.364/.472 and also clobbered 18 homers in 420 plate appearances. He’s certainly an intriguing low-risk lottery ticket for the Mets.

May struck out six while working around two walks and two HBPs. He ends the spring with a 2-0 record, a 3.60 ERA and a 12/6 K/BB in 10 innings. He’s not going to make 30 starts or probably anything close to it, but he should offer some early season value while in the Dodgers rotation.

Kochanowicz’s groundball ability is very real, but he’ll be producing those grounders in front of a thoroughly mediocre Angels infield. It’s one more reason to think he’s the wrong choice to open up as the team’s fifth starter. He did have a nice spring, though, with his 2.79 ERA in 19 1/3 innings.

Anderson will be the Angels’ second baseman on Opening Day, even though he’s been arguably the worst player in the majors since mid-2022 and didn’t really do anything this spring to suggest that he’s better now. With the hitless game tonight, he finishes up hitting .250/.297/.317 in 64 plate appearances.

Campbell took former big-league southpaw Manny Bañuelos deep to straightaway center field in the opening frame. The 22-year-old top prospect will open the regular season as Boston’s starting second baseman and offers immediate fantasy appeal as a stolen base source. There’s five-category impact potential here, but we’re not expecting Campbell to reach his lofty ceiling right out of the gate, especially as he adjusts to life in the big leagues.

Wesneski will open the regular season as Houston’s fifth starter, but doesn’t offer a ton of appeal for fantasy purposes. The 27-year-old righty will square off against the Giants at home early next week in his first outing. He’ll be a matchup-dependent streaming option in deeper mixed leagues.

Fitzgerald was an unexpected revelation last year for San Francisco and will open the regular season as their starting second baseman. He’s stuck at the bottom of manager Bob Melvin’s lineup card at the outset of the year, which limits his fantasy ceiling, but his power-speed combination is plenty appealing in deeper mixed leagues.

Jobe gave up three hits with a two-run homer by Tyler Fitzgerald accounting for all of the damage against him. He averaged 96.3 mph on his fastball in this one and generated nine swinging strikes. The 22-year-old top pitching prospect needs to miss more bats at the highest level to reach his stratospheric potential, but the talent is undoubtedly there to make it happen. He should obviously be rostered in all fantasy formats. He’ll likely kick off the regular season with a favorable road matchup early next week against the Mariners.

Hicks struck out three and issued one walk in his final spring tune-up. He averaged 94.5 mph on his sinker and finished with a strong 32 percent CSW. The hard-throwing 28-year-old comes out of camp fully healthy and will open the regular season with a road matchup early next week against the Astros.

McLain continues to make plenty of hard contact this spring and looks like a potential top-five fantasy option at the keystone heading into the regular season. The 25-year-old former top prospect missed all of last year due to shoulder and rib injuries, but put up 16 homers and 14 steals over 89 games as a rookie back in 2023.

McCann got into 54 games last year for the Athletics as a rookie, batting .236/.318/.371 with five homers and 15 RBI in 157 plate appearances. The 27-year-old backstop played sparingly this spring in Cactus League action and will search for a new opportunity elsewhere with Shea Langeliers and Jhonny Pereda handling the catching duties for the Athletics.
