Rockies sent INF Rio Ruiz outright to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Ruiz was claimed off waivers from the Orioles over the summer, and he hit just .168 with the Rockies and Baltimore in 2021. He’ll likely be non-tendered and seek a new opportunity in 2022.

Andrés Giménez (ankle) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Angels.
It’ll be Davis Schneider taking over at the keystone on Saturday after Giménez aggravated a lingering left ankle issue during Friday’s contest. The 26-year-old second baseman is slated to undergo an MRI this weekend, which should provide some much-needed clarity concerning the severity of the issue. It’s possible he’ll wind up requiring a trip to the injured list, but that’s not a lock at this juncture.
Hold Muncy if placed on injured list
Eric Samulski advises fantasy managers to "hold" Max Muncy if placed on the injured list, who has produced in a big way since the beginning of May, and discusses the outlook for Dodgers' call-up Esteury Ruiz.
  • TOR 1st Baseman #27
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (foot) is in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Angels.
The entire city of Toronto and fantasy managers can exhale after Guerrero sat out Friday’s game after fouling a ball off his foot. The 26-year-old fantasy stalwart was named the starting first baseman for the American League in the upcoming All-Star Game earlier this week and will head to the Midsummer Classic for the fifth straight season.
  • ARI Center Fielder #7
Diamondbacks activated OF Corbin Carroll from the 10-day injured list.
Carroll returns to Arizona’s lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Royals following a two-week absence recovering from a fracture in his left wrist. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar has put together a remarkable first half, hitting .255/.341/.573 with 20 homers and 10 streals through 72 games. The central question for fantasy purposes whenever a hitter comes back from a wrist injury is whether it’ll wind up sapping their power production. It’s the singular variable that fantasy managers should pay close attention to in the handful of games left before the All-Star break.
  • ARI 2nd Baseman #13
Diamondbacks optioned INF Tim Tawa to Triple-A Reno.
Tawa has been shipped back to the minors to make room for franchise cornerstone Corbin Carroll to return from the injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Royals. The versatile 26-year-old rookie hit .200 (31-for-155) with six homers and seven steals across 59 games in his first taste of the big leagues.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #40
Nate Eaton is at third base and leading off on Saturday against the Nationals.
Eaton gets the nod over top prospect Marcelo Mayer at the hot corner, and also receives his first shot in the leadoff spot to face Nationals lefty Mitchell Parker with Jarren Duran dropped to seventh in the order. The other notable development for the Red Sox is that top prospect Roman Anthony is getting a chance to face another southpaw.
  • CIN Center Fielder #29
TJ Friedl is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Phillies.
Friedl receives his first day off since May 15. It’ll be Will Benson taking over to patrol center field and Matt McLain moving up to the leadoff spot to face Phillies crafty southpaw Ranger Suárez on Saturday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. The 29-year-old table-setter is hitting .239 (27-for-113) with four homers and 11 RBI over his last 30 games.
  • PHI 2nd Baseman #5
Bryson Stott is on the bench for Saturday’s game against the Reds.
The Phillies continue to give Edmundo Sosa opportunities to face left-handers with Stott retreating to the bench on Saturday afternoon with southpaw Nick Lodolo drawing the starting assignment for Cincinnati.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #7
Brett Baty is on the bench for Saturday’s Subway Series showdown against the Yankees.
Baty heads to the bench with lefty Carlos Rodón taking the hill on Saturday after 11 consecutive starts between second and third base since June 23. The 25-year-old is hitting just .196 (19-for-97) with three homers and one steal over his last 30 games and will continue to cede occasional playing time to Mark Vientos at the hot corner when the DH spot is occupied.
  • TB 2nd Baseman #7
Ha-Seong Kim (calf) is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Twins.
No surprise here with the quick turnaround after Kim was lifted from his Rays debut on Friday with cramping in his right calf. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash downplayed concern regarding the issue while speaking to reporters after the game, so fantasy managers shouldn’t be overly concerned. There’s a strong chance he’s ready for Sunday’s series finale. It’ll be defensive specialist Taylor Walls taking over at shortstop on Saturday afternoon in his absence.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #45
Drew Pomeranz will start on Saturday against the Cardinals.
Fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate Pomeranz working more than an inning or two as Chicago’s opener in place of an injured Jameson Taillon (calf). However, he’s been phenomenal this season in his first stint in the big leagues since 2021, reeling off 23 1/3 consecutive scoreless frames over 26 appearances.
