Logan Morrison has signed with the High Point Rockers of the independent Atlantic League.
The release from the High Point Rockers notes that Morrison intends to play for Team USA in Olympic qualifying this summer, so his time in independent ball will be a tuneup of sorts. The 33-year-old failed to latch on with a major league club this winter after hitting .120/.214/.280 in 28 plate appearances with the Brewers in 2020.

Kyle Harrison will start Saturday’s game for the Giants against the Nationals.
Harrison gets the nod to replace Justin Verlander (pec) in the rotation. The 23-year-old has plenty of starting experience, but since he’s only been working as a multi-inning reliever as of late, he likely won’t be able to go enough innings to qualify for a win. The left-hander still offers long-term upside, but fantasy managers should probably look elsewhere for a starter for Saturday’s affair.
Astros place Blanco on IL with elbow inflammation
The Astros placed Ronel Blanco on the IL with elbow inflammation, and James Schiano examines what it means for Houston's starting rotation in Blanco's absence.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #00
Brewers optioned RHP Carlos Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville.
Rodriguez pitched 3 1/3 innings while allowing three runs and picking up his first MLB victory against the Pirates on Thursday. The 23-year-old will head back to Triple-A to make room for Aaron Ashby after Ashby was reinstated off the injured list.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #26
Brewers activated LHP Aaron Ashby off the 15-day injured list.
Ashby will get a chance to make his season debut after missing the start of 2025 with a right oblique strain. The southpaw will likely be a multi-inning relief option for the Brew Crew, but it’s not out of the question that he could make starts for Milwaukee by the end of 2025.
  • COL Relief Pitcher #52
Rockies designated LHP Scott Alexander for assignment.
It’s never fun to lose your job, but not having to pitch for the Rockies seems like a decent consolation prize. The 35-year-old was awful in his limited action with Colorado, but his modicum of success at his other stops could cause some interest n the waiver wire. If not, he’ll be an intriguing minor-league free agent.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #29
Rockies recalled RHP Tanner Gordon from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Gordon is up and he’ll start Friday’s game against the Yankees. The right-hander was destroyed by the Tigers the last time he pitched and has not been effective at the highest level. He should be avoided at all cost in all possible fantasy leagues.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #39
Cubs optioned RHP Ethan Roberts to Triple-A Iowa.
Roberts didn’t appear in a game in his short stint with the Cubs this time around. The 27-year-old will likely be back at some point, but for now he heads to Triple-A with Ryan Brasier (groin) activated off the injured list.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #54
Cubs activated RHP Ryan Brasier off the 15-day injured list.
Brasier will give the Cubs a middle-inning option now that he’s back from his groin injury. The 37-year-old will be with the Cubs for their series against the Reds, so Ethan Roberts is sent down to Triple-A to make room.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #43
Giants recalled RHP Tristan Beck rom Triple-A Sacramento.
Beck will have a chance to make his 2025 debut if/when he gets into a game for the Giants. The 28-year-old will likely be a multi-inning option while he’s with San Francisco.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #63
Diamondbacks activated RHP Justin Martinez off the 15-day injured list.
Martinez is back after missing the majority of May with right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander has a chance to be the closer for the D-Backs, but Arizona may ease him back into the role before using him in the ninth inning. His ability to miss bats does give him some fantasy relevancy, but fantasy managers may want to see how the D-Backs use Martinez before adding him to the roster.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #68
Reds transferred RHP Carson Spiers from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
It’s a procedural move that creates room on the 40-man roster for Garrett Hampson after Hampson signed Friday. The 27-year-old will be eligible to come off the injured list June 20, but there’s no timetable for when the right-hander will be ready after suffering a shoulder impingement late in April.
