Pirates designated OF Dustin Fowler for assignment.
Fowler saw quite a bit of action out of the gate this season with Pittsburgh, but he heads to the waiver wire having batted just .171/.239/.195 with one extra-base hit and 20 strikeouts in 46 plate appearances.

Rangers designated OF Kevin Pillar for assignment.
Pillar has been removed from Texas’ 40-man roster to clear a spot for prospect Alejandro Osuna. The 36-year-old veteran figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and will likely wind up electing free agency.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • CLE 1st Baseman #41
Carlos Santana was scratched from Sunday’s lineup with left leg tightness.
The Guardians didn’t want to take any chances with the quick turnaround on Sunday morning following Saturday night’s contest, so Santana will take a seat for precautionary reasons. It’ll be Kyle Manzardo taking over at the cold corner in his absence.
  • SEA Shortstop #25
Dylan Moore is at shortstop and leading off on Saturday against the Astros.
Moore finds himself atop Seattle’s lineup with J.P. Crawford getting a break during Sunday’s series finale at Daikin Park. The versatile 32-year-old is hitting just .238 (10-for-42) with two homers and two steals over his last 15 games.
  • KC Center Fielder #28
Kyle Isbel (illness) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Twins.
Isbel will sit out his second straight contest after being scratched from Saturday’s lineup with an illness. It’ll be Drew Waters taking over in center field for the second consecutive game.
  • TB Shortstop #6
Taylor Walls is back in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Blue Jays.
Walls is back in Tampa Bay’s lineup for the first time since being scratched from Wednesday’s game against the Astros with groin soreness. The 28-year-old defensive wizard came off the bench during Friday and Saturday’s contests.
  • CHC Catcher #22
Cubs selected the contract of C Reese McGuire from Triple-A Iowa.
McGuire gets the nod over top prospect Moises Ballesteros to replace catcher Miguel Amaya on Chicago’s roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Reds. The decision appears largely motivated by legitimate questions surrounding Ballesteros’ defensive abilities. He’ll remain stationed at the Triple-A level where he’ll continue playing everyday until a more permanent opportunity arises.
  • CHC Catcher #9
Cubs placed C Miguel Amaya on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.
Amaya has been outstanding this season for fantasy managers, hitting .280 with four homers and 25 RBI through 27 games. It’ll be Reese McGuire, not top prospect Moises Ballesteros, coming up to take his spot on Chicago’s roster.
  • LAA Right Fielder #22
Angels signed OF Oscar Colás to a minor league contract.
We’ll never rule out the possibility that a change of scenery enables a player to unlock their potential. However, Colás has greatly underachieved relative to expectations, hitting .223/.271/.309 with five homers and four steals in 88 games for the White Sox since 2023. He’s purely a reclamation project for the Angels at this stage of his career.
  • CIN 1st Baseman #7
Spencer Steer is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Cubs.
Steer is finally starting to show some signs of life at the dish, hitting .315 (17-for-54) with one homer and one steal over his last 15 games, following an ice-cold start to the year. The 27-year-old dealt with shoulder issues during spring training, which may have contributed to his early struggles. It’ll be Connor Joe filling in at the cold corner on Sunday afternoon.
  • BAL Left Fielder #1
Orioles signed C/OF Cooper Hummel to a one-year contract.
It didn’t take long for Hummel to find another opportunity after opting out of his minor league contract with the Yankees earlier this week. The versatile 30-year-old hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since getting into six contests last year for the Astros. He’ll occupy a bench role for Baltimore.
