Dustin Fowler struck out all three times he was up in the first game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against the Tigers.
It seems like good news for Fowler that Anthony Alford was designated for assignment this morning, but the Tigers could still just turn to Bryan Reynolds in center if Fowler continues to struggle so mightily. He’s at .179/.250/.205 with 19 strikeouts in 44 plate appearances.

Braves acquired INF Jonathan Ornelas from the Rangers for cash considerations.
Ornelas heads to Triple-A Gwinnett as ancillary infield depth after being removed from Texas’ 40-man roster earlier this week. The 24-year-old has hit .184 across 54 plate appearances over 30 games in the majors since 2023.
Top prospect Clarke to be called up by Athletics
Following the Atheltics' announcement that they are calling up prized outfield Denzel Clarke, James Schiano discusses what the toolsy prospect with "blazing speed" will bring to the pro level.
  • STL Catcher #40
Willson Contreras (back) is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Diamondbacks.
Contreras will sit out his second consecutive contest after being scratched from Friday’s lineup due to back spasms. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern, but back issues can be complicated matters. It’ll be Alec Burleson at first base with slugger Iván Herrera at DH on Saturday afternoon. Fantasy managers should continue to closely monitor his status ahead of Sunday’s series finale.
  • ARI Center Fielder #7
Corbin Carroll is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Cardinals.
It’s an extremely rare day off for Carroll, who will take a seat to open Saturday’s contest with lefty Matthew Liberatore toeing the rubber at Busch Stadium. It’ll be southpaw-masher Randal Grichuk taking his place in right field. The 24-year-old has performed at an MVP-caliber level this season, slashing .271/.345/.579 with 15 home runs, 34 RBI and nine steals through 51 contests. He also leads the majors with six triples this season. That’ll work.
  • COL 1st Baseman #4
Michael Toglia is back in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Yankees.
Toglia is back in Colorado’s lineup for the first time in three games. The 26-year-old received an extended break in what we’re assuming is a mental reset after slumping badly over the first seven-plus weeks to open the season. He’s a non-factor for fantasy purposes at the moment, but he’s certainly talented enough to turn things around and make an impact in the power department.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #64
Cooper Criswell will serve as the 27th man for Saturday’s doubleheader against the Orioles.
Criswell provides the Red Sox with some additional long relief depth for Saturday’s twin bill at Fenway Park. The 28-year-old righty will head back to Triple-A Worcester at the conclusion of the nightcap.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa is absent from the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Royals.
It’s become standard operating procedure for teams to give players a day off following their return from the injured list, which appears to be the case here. Correa went 2-for-4 with a solo homer on Friday night in his return to Minnesota’s lineup after spending nearly a week on the concussion injured list. It’ll be Brooks Lee at shortstop on Saturday afternoon in his place.
  • KC Catcher #13
Salvador Perez (illness) is in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Twins.
Perez is back at DH and hitting cleanup on Saturday after sitting out Friday’s contest due to illness. The 35-year-old veteran backstop has started to show some real signs of life at the dish in recent days, so the hope is that the brief absence won’t disrupt his momentum.
  • BAL Center Fielder #12
Ramón Laureano (ankle) remains out of the lineup for the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Laureano will sit out his third straight contest during the opening game of Saturday’s twin bill at Fenway Park due to an ongoing left ankle issue. He’s day-to-day for now. It’ll be Ryan O’Hearn and Heston Kjerstad in the outfield corners in his place.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #2
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters that Alex Bregman will undergo an MRI on his right quad and is trending towards a trip to the injured list.
Bregman is not in the lineup for the opening contest of Saturday’s doubleheader at Fenway Park and may require an injured list stint after exiting Friday’s game with right quad tightness. There should be some definitive clarity on his status at some point this weekend. Cora added that Rafael Devers will not move back to third base, but didn’t rule out the possibility of top prospect Marcelo Mayer coming up from Triple-A Worcester. We’ll have updates on the developing situation as it unfolds.
  • PHI 3rd Baseman #37
Weston Wilson (migraine) went 1-for-3 on Friday against the Athletics in his return to the lineup.
Wilson was back in Philadelphia’s lineup after missing one game following an early exit from Wednesday’s contest due to a migraine headache.
