Red Sox acquired INF Christian Koss from the Rockies in exchange for LHP Yoan Aybar.
Koss, 23 in January, was a 12th round pick by the Rockies out of UC Riverside, and he performed well in the Pioneer League with .332/.447/.605 line along with 11 homers and 10 steals over 53 games for short-season Grand Junction.

Adam Frazier went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a win for the Pirates over the Rays on Wednesday.
Frazier singled home Jared Triolo to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead. The veteran infielder/outfielder hit at the top of the Pittsburgh lineup Wednesday, but remains a non-factor in fantasy leagues.
  • PIT Center Fielder #15
Oneil Cruz went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, a stolen base and two RBI in a win over the Rays on Wednesday.
Cruz scorched a solo shot off Ryan Pepiot on a ball that had an exit velocity of 108.1 mph in the fifth inning. He gave the Pirates some insurance with a sacrifice fly in the eighth to make it 4-2 Pirates. Cruz has two homers, six stolen bases and a .922 OPS to open the 2025 campaign. Not too shabby.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #60
Dennis Santana pitched a scoreless ninth Wednesday to get a save against the Rays.
It’s the first save of the season for Santana. It’s not likely to be the last, as David Bednar was optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday, leaving Santana as a logical option for the ninth inning. He did issue a walk in this outing and didn’t get a strikeout, but still an effective first chance for Santana. He’s worth a look.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #44
Ryan Pepiot was charged for two runs over five innings while picking up a loss to the Pirates on Wednesday.
Pepiot walked three while striking out the same total. He gave up a loud homer to Oneil Cruz in the fifth, and he allowed an RBI single in the second. Between that it was a solid — if unspectacular — outing for Pepiot, but Paul Skenes was much better. The 27-year-old gets the Angels on Wednesday.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #30
Paul Skenes allowed just three hits and an unearned run over seven innings to pick up a win in a 4-2 victory for the Pirates on Wednesday.
Skenes struck out six, and he initiated 13 swings and misses out of his 102 pitches. The right-hander was routinely in the high 90 mph with his fastball, and while it wasn’t the most dominant we’ve seen him in the majors, that’s much more compliment to some other outings than insult to this one. Skenes takes a 1.46 ERA into his third start of the season; scheduled for Tuesday against the Cardinals.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #66
Brayan Bello (shoulder) will make another rehab start Sunday for Triple-A Worchester.
Bello started Tuesday for Worchester and went 2 1/3 innings in that rehab appearance. He’ll hope to go deeper Sunday, but either way he’ll likely make at least one more rehab start before rejoining the Boston rotation.
  • ARI Center Fielder #4
John Gambadoro of 98.7 reports that the Diamondbacks and Ketel Marte are working on a long-term extension.
Marte is currently locked up through 2028, but considering how good he’s been for the overwhelming majority of his career and that he’s still only 31, it’s no surprise that Arizona would like to keep him in town for longer than that. Don’t be surprised if this is a deal that is announced relatively soon.
  • TEX Third Baseman #8
Josh Smith doubled in Joc Pederson in the fourth to plate the only run in the Rangers’ 1-0 victory against the Reds on Wednesday.
The game featured all of six hits and two walks and was played in 2:13. The Rangers improved to 5-2 on the season, even though they’ve hit .192 and been outscored 25-18 in their seven games.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #77
Luke Jackson earned his third save with a scoreless ninth Wednesday against the Reds.
Jacob Webb, Robert Garcia, Chris Martin and Jackson all turned in rather easy scoreless innings after Jack Leiter departed due to a blister. The Reds did Jackson a little favor when Jake Fraley was picked off/caught stealing to end the eighth, leaving the ninth spot up in the order to begin the ninth. Pinch-hitter Jacob Hurtubise went on to ground out on the first pitch he saw. No. 3 hitter Elly De La Cruz did get up with two outs anyway, thanks to a TJ Friedl single, but he grounded out to end it.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #21
Despite limiting the Rangers to one run and three hits in seven innings, Hunter Greene took a loss Wednesday.
Greene struck out eight for a second straight start. He got a whopping 22 missed swings today, which is tied for the highest total by a pitcher this season. His 59 fastballs averaged 100.0 mph, and he topped out at 101.5 mph. Alas, the Reds offense couldn’t score even a single run for him in this one. Greene will take an 0-1 record and a 2.25 ERA into his third outing against the Giants.
