Osuna cleared outright waivers and will hit the open market after the Astros decided they didn’t want to pay him what he’ll command in his final year of arbitration eligibility. He is attempting to pitch through a partially torn UCL.

Yankees’ skipper Aaron Boone had said before Friday’s contest that Chisholm could be available off the bench, but that didn’t prove to be true. Boone did note after the game that whether or not Chisholm is in the starting lineup on Friday, he will at least be available.

He did not have an update on the severity of the injury, only saying that the club would know more on Friday. Fantasy managers should be sure to have an alternative option ready for the weekend in the event that Paredes is unable to give it a go.

Goldschmidt had the decisive hit, a liner to first that went off Vinnie Pasquantino’s glove. Pasquantino picked up the ball and belatedly tried for the out at first, which led to Pablo Reyes attempting to score from second on the play. Reyes, though, stumbled around third, nearly falling down, and should have been a dead duck, except Lucas Erceg botched the throw home for a run-scoring error. In truth, it could have been two errors on the play, since Goldschmidt’s liner was only 93 mph off the bat and really should have been caught. Since the run came on the error, this was a rare contest with zero runs batted in.

Seth Lugo matched him precisely, and this one was scoreless until the eighth. Warren ended up allowing four hits, walking one and striking out four. He still hasn’t gone six innings in a start this season, though he might have tonight if not for a 28-minute rain delay before he came back out for the sixth. Next on the schedule for him is a start at home versus the Angels.

Williams got Vinnie Pasquantino to fly out and Salvador Perez to ground out before Jac Caglianone struck out to end it. He’s 4-for-4 saving games since Luke Weaver went down.

Although Will Warren continued after the brief 28-minute rain delay tonight, Lugo did not; he was lifted from the scoreless game with two on and two outs in the sixth. Angel Zerpa replaced him and got Cody Bellinger to fly out to escape the jam. Lugo lowered his ERA to 3.18 tonight. He’ll face the Rangers next.

Altuve smacked a go-ahead two-run double off of Davis Martin in the third inning, then swiped third base and scored on an RBI double off the bat of Yainer Diaz. He also drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. The 35-year-old outfielder is in the midst of another very solid offensive season, slashing .275/.321/.416 with nine homers, 27 RBI and six stolen bases through his first 65 games.

Loftin was responsible for the Royals’ only extra-base hit and their only walks in the 1-0 loss. Manager Matt Quatraro has made it quite obvious he doesn’t think Loftin is a full-timer or anything close to it, but Loftin is 10-for-33 with five extra-base hits in limited action, good for an .896 OPS. Given the weak alternatives, he ought to be starting more than twice per week.

The 26-year-old backstop drove in a run with an RBI double off of Davis Martin in the third inning, increasing the Astros’ lead to 3-1. He also singled in the first and eighth innings but was left stranded both times. With his three-hit attack, Diaz is now hitting .248/.282/.398 with eight homers and 28 RBI on the season.

Hader came on with a two-run lead to protect in the ninth and immediately gave one back on a solo blast off the bat of Mike Tauchman. He then rebounded to get the next two hitters before giving up a two-out double to Miguel Vargas to put the tying run in scoring position. Not to worry though as he struck out Austin Slater on a called third strike to end the ballgame. He has been as good as ever this season, registering a 1.55 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and a 45/7 K/BB ratio over 29 innings while converting each of his first 18 save opportunities.
