The Marlins have added prospect left-hander Dax Fulton to their 60-man player pool
Fulton is coming back from Tommy John surgery and will continue his rehab process at the team’s alternate training site. The 18-year-old was the Marlins’ second-round pick in this year’s draft.

Max Scherzer (thumb) will make another minor league rehab start at Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old right-hander came out of Friday’s rehab outing feeling good and experienced only normal fatigue from the start after throwing 56 pitches. He’ll throw a side session on Sunday before rejoining the Bisons for another start on Wednesday. If all goes well with that one, he could then get clearance to return to the Blue Jays’ rotation.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.
  • STL Center Fielder #22
Cardinals optioned OF Michael Siani to Triple-A Memphis.
The Cardinals had to make room on their active roster for the return of Jordan Walker (wrist) on Saturday and it appears as though Siani drew the short straw this time around. The 25-year-old outfielder has hit .235/.316/.235 with zero RBI and a 7/2 K/BB ratio in 19 plate appearances with the Cardinals this season.
  • STL Right Fielder #18
Cardinals activated OF Jordan Walker from the 10-day injured list.
The 23-year-old slugger has been shelved since May 29 due to inflammation in his left wrist. He took a few at-bats on a minor league rehab assignment over the past two days and was deemed ready to return. He’ll start in right field and bat seventh against Jose Quintana and the Brewers on Saturday afternoon in Milwaukee.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #65
Nestor Cortes (elbow) threw 30 pitches during a successful bullpen session on Friday.
It was the third bullpen session that the 30-year-old southpaw has completed in his recovery from a left elbow flexor strain. He’ll repeat the process again next week with a pair of up-downs before he’s cleared to face live hitters for the first time. He’s still at least a month away from potentially being an option to help out the Brewers’ rotation.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #57
Angels returned LHP Garrett McDaniels to the Dodgers.
The 25-year-old Rule-5 selection passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment earlier in the week and will return to the Dodgers. McDaniels registered a 5.91 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and a 6/8 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings in 10 appearances with the Angels. He’ll add extra bullpen depth for the Dodgers.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #46
White Sox sent RHP Bryse Wilson outright to Triple-A Charlotte.
Wilson had been designated for assignment earlier in the week. He passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra rotation depth for the White Sox at the Triple-A level.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #27
Mark Vientos (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse early next week.
The 25-year-old slugger has been sidelined since early June due to a right hamstring strain. He should only require a couple of games to get his timing back at the plate before he’s ready to rejoin the Mets. If all goes well, he could be ready to return at some point during next weekend’s series against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
  • BAL Left Fielder #17
Colton Cowser remains out of the Orioles’ starting lineup for Saturday’s battle against the Angels.
Cowser is dealing with a variety of injuries after crashing into the outfield wall on Thursday and has now missed each of the O’s next two ballgames. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list, but if he isn’t ready soon the Orioles’ hand may be forced here. Cedric Mullins will start in center field and bat eighth for the O’s against Tyler Anderson and the Angels on Saturday.
  • KC 2nd Baseman #6
Royals’ manager Matt Quatraro told reporters that Jonathan India (shoulder) will be available off the bench on Saturday.
India suffered a shoulder subluxation while diving for a ball during Friday’s game and was held out of the starting lineup on Saturday as a precautionary measure. It sounds like he was able to avoid significant injury though and shouldn’t require an extended absence.
  • TOR 3rd Baseman #47
Addison Barger is not in the Blue Jays’ starting lineup for Saturday afternoon’s battle against the Phillies.
Barger will take a seat with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez taking the mound for the Phillies on Saturday. Ernie Clement will draw another start at third base and will bat fifth for the Jays on Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.
