Gordon Beckham has been missing from Mets camp for the last two days.
Mets manager Luis Rojas would not provide an explanation for the veteran infielder’s absence when asked about it Wednesday. Beckham signed a minor league contract with New York last month and was immediately added to the player pool for MLB’s planned 60-game 2020 campaign.

Guardians sent OF Myles Straw outright to Triple-A Columbus.
Once again, the speedy 30-year-old outfielder passed through waivers without being claimed, as no team wanted to assume the $14.75 million remaining on his contract. Straw will continue to function as extra outfield depth for the Guardians, but his days of fantasy relevancy are long gone.
  • STL Shortstop #25
Thomas Saggese went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI as the Desert Dogs defeated the Solar Sox 5-2 in Arizona Fall League action on Friday evening.
The 22-year-old Cardinals’ prospect smacked an RBI double in the third inning that tied the game at 1-1. He then singled in each of his final two at-bats to finish the night with three knocks. Saggese is off to a terrific start in the desert, slashing .431/.554/.647 with a pair of homers, 10 RBI and a 13/12 K/BB ratio through his first 14 ballgames.
  • ARI Third Baseman #28
Diamondbacks 3B Eugenio Suarez is having his 2025 option picked up, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN.
Suarez will make $15 million. It’s been a significant couple of days for the Diamondbacks now that Suarez and Jordan Montgomery will officially be back with the team. Suarez hit .256 with 30 home runs and 101 RBI in his first season with Arizona. He originally signed a seven-year deal with the Reds in 2018 and will be a free agent next offseason.
  • LAD Center Fielder #93
Dodgers OF Kevin Kiermaier announced that he’s retiring on Friday.
Kiermaier is calling it quits after a 12-year career and going out on top as a World Series champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers after a midseason trade from the Toronto Blue Jays. Kiermaier hit .197 with five home runs and 26 RBI in 116 games during the regular season. A four-time Gold Glove award winner, the 34-year-old will be remembered most for his defense and 10 years played with the Tampa Bay Rays.
  • Left Fielder #37
Teoscar Hernandez said during the Dodgers’ World Series’ celebration on Friday that returning to the team for the 2025 season was a priority for him.
The 32-year-old outfielder settled for a one-year, $23.5 million contract last off-season. He then went on to be a key cog in the Dodgers’ championship run — slashing .272/.339/.501 with 33 homers, 99 RBI and 12 stolen bases over 652 plate appearances. As one of the top right-handed hitters available on the open market, expect Hernandez to land a lucrative multi-year deal this time around.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #30
Yankees exercised their one-year, $2.5 option on RHP Luke Weaver.
This one was a foregone conclusion as Weaver looks like one of the best discounts in all of baseball after his emergence as one of the top high-leverage relievers in all of baseball. Weaver registered a 2.89 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and a 103/26 K/BB ratio over 84 innings with the Yankees in 2024. He finished the regular season as their closer, notching four saves before adding another four saves to his ledger during the postseason. He’s the favorite to enter the 2025 campaign as the club’s closer which makes him an extremely attractive option in all fantasy drafts.
  • SF Shortstop #18
Giants sent INF Donovan Walton outright to Triple-A Sacramento.
The 30-year-old infielder passed through waivers unclaimed and will remain with the Giants on the minor league side for the time being. Walton appeared in just nine games with the Giants during the 2024 season, slashing .136/.240/.273 with one homer, two RBI and a 7/2 K/BB ratio over 25 plate appearances.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #31
Reds signed LHP Brent Suter to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
The deal also includes a $3 million option for the 2026 season. The Reds chose to go this route instead of simply exercising their $3.5 million option on the left-hander for the 2025 season. Suter was one of the most reliable options in the team’s bullpen during the 2024 campaign, compiling a 3.15 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 50/12 K/BB ratio over 65 2/3 innings while recording a pair of saves.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #47
Reds’ RHP Jakob Junis has declined his side of an $8 million mutual option for 2025.
Junis will receive a $3 million buyout and will hit the open market. The right-hander excelled as a full-time member of the bullpen in 2024, compiling a brilliant 2.69 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a 51/8 K/BB ratio over 67 innings between the Brewers and Reds. Given his success in 2024, he won’t have any trouble finding a landing spot for the 2025 season.
  • CIN Relief Pitcher #28
Reds’ RHP Nick Martinez has declined his $12 million player option for 2025.
This doesn’t come as a surprise, as the 34-year-old right-hander should be able to do much better than that for himself on the open market after a strong season with the Reds in which he went 10-7 with a 3.10 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 116/18 K/BB ratio across 142 1/3 innings in 42 appearances (16 starts). He should have plenty of interested suitors over the winter.
