According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, a deal for Manny Ramirez in Taiwan “hasn’t materialized to this point.”
Manny told the Taiwan Times back in April that he was hoping to sign with a Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) team for the 2020 season, and he apparently still has hope of working something out. Heyman suggests that the 47-year-old former MLB slugger might get a look in the second half.

Félix Bautista tossed a scoreless ninth inning with three strikeouts to record the save against the White Sox on Saturday.
With a two-run lead in the top of the ninth, the Orioles went to Bautista despite him throwing 29 pitches for a save the day before. He worked around two walks, striking out the side to lock down his tenth save of the season.
Palencia 'asserts himself' as Cubs closer
Daniel Palencia has four saves in his last four appearances, and James Schiano examines how the 25-year-old flamethrower has officially asserted himself as the Chicago Cubs closer moving forward.

Dean Kremer allowed one run with seven strikeouts over six innings in a win over the White Sox on Saturday.
Kremer held the White Sox off the board until a double and a base hit brought a run in to score in the fifth. He’d toss one more scoreless frame, holding Chicago to just the one run over six while striking out seven batters. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 4.70 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 51/18 K/BB ratio across 67 innings into a start against the Athletics in Sacramento on Friday.

Edward Cabrera scattered six hits over 5 2/3 innings in the Marlins’ 1-0 defeat of the Giants on Saturday.
No extra-base hits in this one. The Giants outsingled the Marlins 8-3 and also had two more runners reach on walks/HBPs (5-3), but they never could push across a run. Cabrera pitched exactly 5 2/3 scoreless innings for a second straight outing, though the last one, in which he struck out 10 Angels, was more impressive than this performance. Given his history of inconsistency and his subpar supporting cast, Cabrera isn’t recommended in mixed leagues. That might change later if a contender picks him up. He’s due to face the Rays next.

Calvin Faucher pitched a scoreless ninth in a 1-0 game for his fourth save Saturday.
Anthony Bender got through the heart of the order in a 1-0 game in the eighth, leaving Faucher to face eight, nine and one in the ninth. Heliot Ramos did wind up with a two-out single, but Faucher got Jung-Hoo Lee to ground out to end it. Faucher has the Marlins’ last two traditional saves and four of the 10 overall. He’s also blown three chances and he’s sporting a 4.95 ERA, so we still wouldn’t be eager to roster him.

Robbie Ray took his first loss of the year after allowing one run over seven innings Saturday against the Marlins.
That’s a tough first loss. The Giants had been 10-1 in Ray’s starts, with the only loss coming in a game in which he pitched seven scoreless innings versus the Royals. Ray allowed two hits, walked three and struck out nine today, with the strikeout total matching his season high. He ended up going 3-1 with a 1.38 ERA, a 45/11 K/BB and no homers allowed in six starts during the month of May. He’ll face the Padres next.

Davis Martin allowed four runs with three strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Orioles on Saturday.
Martin served up a solo homer to Jackson Holliday to lead off the bottom of the first inning. A double and a base hit brought a second run in to score in the fourth. Jorge Mateo then took Martin deep for a two-run blast in the fifth. He’d toss one more inning, ending his day after six with three strikeouts. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.67 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a 41/17 K/BB ratio across 68 2/3 innings into a start against the Tigers in Chicago on Thursday.
  • SF Left Fielder #31
LaMonte Wade Jr. went 0-for-4 and struck out twice Saturday, dropping his average to .167.
The Giants appear to be about ready to move on from Wade, but they’re short on alternatives at first base. Wilmer Flores isn’t physically capable of playing the field regularly. Jerar Encarnacion is being looked at there on his rehab assignment, but his defense would likely be pretty rough. Marco Luciano is also just recently getting a chance there in Triple-A. Casey Schmidt can play the position, but he’s probably a worse bet offensively than Wade going forward. They could potentially grab Matt Mervis off waivers, but that also doesn’t seem like an upgrade. If any veteran RBI guys become available, it’s easy to imagine the Giants pouncing.
  • STL Shortstop #0
Masyn Winn went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the Cardinals’ 2-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday.
Winn led off the fourth inning with a double and scored on a hit by Willson Contreras. He later added a base hit in the eighth for his third multi-hit game in his last four contests. The 23-year-old shortstop is hitting .304 with five home runs since moving to the second spot in the batting order on April 30.
  • STL Relief Pitcher #56
Ryan Helsley struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to record the save against the Rangers on Saturday.
Helsley got the save chance in the ninth with a two-run lead over the Rangers. He worked a perfect frame, striking out two batters for his 13th save of the season to go with a 3.00 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 21 innings.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #54
Sonny Gray tossed seven scoreless innings with ten strikeouts in a win over the Rangers on Saturday.
Gray was outstanding on Saturday, shutting down the Rangers over seven scoreless frames. He scattered four hits and walked one batter while collecting ten strikeouts on 19 whiffs. The 35-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 3.65 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 76/14 K/BB ratio across 69 innings. Gray will take on the Dodgers in St. Louis on Friday.
